Yeah, me too. Fortunately for me, Macmillan, Random House, and Penguin (are they the same thing yet?) don't seem to be discountable in the US again, so I don't have that "it's a bargain" mentality when I'm thinking "buy or wait".

Yes, or an even better coupon through their monthly contest. I did get an offer for a 30% off coupon if I give Kobo my birthday, or 20% off for the 4th anniversary of registering with Kobo back when they were still Shortcovers. Hmmm, do I take 20% off or 50% off with bookriot50? Still, those are better coupons that I get from B&N (i.e., no coupons at all). I just wish that I could get Kobo gift cards with my credit card cash-back bonus.

If the publishers step in and said no more I see this as once in a lifetime thing. I don't think they will change it back as I don't think Kobo was the one who decided to disable it. Agency hasn't really gone away. It's just has some leeway now to where the retailers can lower the price just a little bit.

Two days ago, I bought a book on Kobo and used the discount code Bookriot50 to get it half price. Great. The following day (yesterday), I look and the same book has dropped by about $7. So in effect I only ended up saving about $3 instead of the $12 or so I had initially saved.

It's a brand new book that's just come out. I feel a bit ripped off. If I hadn't used a discount code, I would be feeling very very ripped off.

It pays to check for an new paperback release coming up - the ebook price often drops then or a few days later (I check at Amazon).
