MRI at the hospital this afternoon confirms the original diagnosis... ruptured bicep tendon. Fortunately it's not at the attachments, but in the middle over the muscle belly, so no surgery required. Another 3-4 weeks with it wrapped in an Ace bandage, and I can start fencing again. YIPPEE!
The doctor even said I can play the violin! If my memory serves me, this is the worst sports injury I've ever had, other than a broken finger when skiing, and I did that by getting it stuck in the bathroom door handle in the lodge, not on the slopes! Stitchawl |

I've just got back from a trip to the craft store. I had planned a trip for Monday, however, the weather prediction for Monday is over 6mm of rain and today it is relatively warm (compared to the last couple of days), sunny and dry.
I got a bunch of ink pads, travel themed journaling cards, some washi tape and they had just gotten in the Fiskars paper trimmer I wanted. Plus I manage to stay well within the budget I had set myself. |

Got to love the internet.
Besides Luca the dog I'm also taking care of two fish for friends. It doesn't take much work; feed them once a day and rinse the sponge thingie in the filter of the pump once a week. I rinsed the sponge just now and put it back into the pump but it didn't do anything when I plugged it back in. A quick Google search turned up the advice to give the pump a good smack because sometimes the rotor got stuck. And indeed, it worked! I was already panicking on where to get a new pump. It's even a bit quieter now than it was before. |

For the first five years after I stopped, checking my meter was the opening curtain of my morning. I loved seeing it climb from day to day. It was the positive feedback that kept me on track. Around year 7-8, I started to forget to check it each day, but still noticed it several times a week. These days I never see it except when the calendar tells me that it's the 21st of the month and I remember how important that date is to me. Quote:
Fortunately, most cuisines other than Korean use honey to some extent, so those restaurants usually can give you a tiny dish of it if needed. I found very small 'honey bears' sold in many souvenir shops... little 2" tall plastic bottles, so I carry those in my pocket when traveling in Korea or the Caribbean. Stitchawl |

Watching my daughter pack for her return to school. As brilliant as she is, sometimes she just doesn't learn. She thinks she will be done packing "soon." She will be leaving for the airport in about 5 hours.

Trying to find out what you can do in Newcastle/Gateshead and make an first itinerary for our trip next month. We arrive on Tuesday morning, that day I think it's best to stay in the neighbourhood. So visiting the Castle Keep and the city centre. On Wednesday we have all day, in the morning take a walking tour and after that join the Hop On Hop Off bustour. On Thurday we have to get the bus to boat mid-afternoon, I've no idea what to do that day.
If anyone's got tips on what to do they are welcome! |

1. No, which is what makes this such wonderful news. I'm considering tearing up my right arm now, and perhaps I'll finally be able to master the bagpipes! 2. MUCH safer than the Black Diamond slopes, or so I thought. The stall door had one of those elongated D-shaped handles (like a beer stein,) and just as I was reaching for it, my ski boots slid out from under me while my thumb went inside the 'D' and the rest was history... Good grief! I've had a more or less substantial injury roughly every 3 years. Not all skiing mind, but certainly impacted the sport

From today until Monday my city hosts the (barrel) organ festivel. Today all throughout the city centre small barrel organs could be found. I took a bit of a detour whilst getting lunch today to see more of them. I first thought the organs were from the Music Box to Barrel Organ Museum, but I saw that all of them were privately owned. I liked it that the small organs were on display, we have one or two bigger barrel organs moving around the city centre on weekends but they make too much noise IMHO.
My favourite was the one with a miniature carousel on top of it, which rotated when music was played. |
