Waiting for The Great British Bake-Off to start. I just love that program and can't wait for the Dutch edition to start again.

Took advantage of a coolish night and mowed the lawn - amazing what a week of torrential rains will do for growth of green stuff! Love my Fiskars mower!

Trying to figure out why so few people have entered my giveaway for Peter Watts' new novel Echopraxia. It's US/Canada only, but the majority of visitors are from there, so don't understand it. Are people unwilling to enter their email addresses?

Marketing glut? Really, I'm surprised many people spend any money on books given how many are out there for free.

It has come to the time where you need to pay people to read your stuff

OT: the problem is your giveaway requests a lot (email submission, social media tasks) in exchange for an uncertain return.

On topic: I'm sitting in my vehicle awaiting my brother, with whom I'll be spending this beautiful, late summer Friday. I'm getting old enough and thus have lost enough loved ones to have learned that such opportunities are not unlimited; each should be seized, savored, and cherished.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take a look at that in future. The only thing required is the email submission though, social media tasks are optional. Guess I didn't make that clear enough.

At least the reasons aren't as baffling now.

Drinking some coffee, trying to decide what to read next.

Debating with myself whether or not to walk Luca early tonight, since I'm tired and just want to curl up in bed. The drawback of doing that is that tomorrow morning I have to get up in time to walk her and I can't have a bit of a lie in.

Is Luca your pet?
Pet's perspective: walk me early, walk me late, walk me often!

No, Luca is my friends' dog. I'm house/dog/fish sitting whilst they are on vacation. Luckily she's calmed down a bit since last year, though she still doesn't like other dogs. It turns out she hates rain, so with the current weather she only wants to do what needs to be done and then she immediately wants to go home.

Currently I'm making a shopping list for tomorrow and I'm wondering if it's too early to order take-out.

Last might the S.O. made strombolis from scratch. They were delicious. I told my grandson we should tell her that her job from here on out is to make strombolis every day. That and her world-famous lasagna. Tonight I'm lazing out and cooking store bought pizza, but I will add some extra cheese. Tomorrow night I'll make either Hamburger Helper or spaghetti. We have some pork chops, so I think I'll move them in the morning from the deep freeze to the refrigerator and cook them on Tuesday. I need to go to the store to get another roast. My wife's slow cooker really does them up nice.

And now to walk Nortie before it gets too dark. Ta ta!

A suggestion for your pork chops. While you're at the market, pick up some Korean 'kochejhan.'(Could be spelled Gochujang.) Most larger supermarkets are carrying it these days in the Asian section. It's a fermented bean paste with chili, slightly spicy so don't use much, but when rubbed onto pork (chops, loin roast, etc.,) and cooked, the flavor is out of this world!. A scant tablespoon full would be all that's needed for four chops.

Thanks, Stitch. Sounds try-worthy, but I'll have to keep it off my wife's chops. I love the heat, but she doesn't like anything even mildly spicy.

Yes... this can be a bit too much for some. But my wife doesn't care for spicy foods either, and loves this. Try some on yours, keeping her's to something more benign, such as Kraft 'Russian Dressing.' Let her taste yours and see. Worst comes to worse, she won't care for it. Best case, she loves it.

Lol. I hosted a table on Saturday night at a welcome dinner for the new group of Chinese students coming into Georgia Tech this semester. I had seven students at my table (4 PhD students and 3 Masters students), two of whom had just been at a potluck at their advisor's house. They brought their leftover potluck contributions with them and offered them around the table (that was a first, since this was a sit-down dinner!). Their dishes were very good, and one student had even brought along his jar of "spicy bean paste" which he assured me wouldn't burn my mouth. Ha. Luckily, I'm no fool so I just put it on a little of my chicken dish. Hot. Very hot. I ate it, thanked him nicely, and made an excuse to get up to refill the water pitcher!

Yeah that stuff is hot, hot, hot.

I am trying to decide if I like the fact that my Husband is not toning down the food he is making and giving it to Little Man. LM seems to eat it although the last few times he has said his mouth is hot and then downed his milk. He goes back for more. So the plus is that he is going to quickly become acclimated to eating spicy food and he is increasing his milk consumption. A part of me wonders if the spice level is good for his tummy at the age of 2.
