Since there's a blizzard outside, I thought I'd finally start "The Children's Blizzard" by David Laskin, which I got from the library and is probably overdue.

I started "Town in a Blueberry Jam" by B.B. Haywood. It's pretty good so far, and you learn a LOT about growing blueberries.

Next up is probably whichever is next in the Sookie series - problem is, I can't remember if I'm on 7 or 8....

Skip the character list. No need for it or the map really. The story held and was simple enough to follow without needing to ever refer to it - it seemed a bit overdone in my opinion that way. Making it out to be more "epic" than it was. There are books and, in particular, series where such aids are an absolute necessity and you need to make your own if they haven't provided one for you - most recent in my mind was The Quincunx and 100 Years of Solitude. But Stephen King's characters are always described sufficiently and in such a simplified polarized manner that it is easy to keep track of who's who.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that in the end this is really just your average extra-long Stephen King novel, enjoyable for what it is, no need to be put off by the misleading implication that it is going to be work to read.

I'm in the process of working my way through all of the W.E.B. Griffin series. I just finished the "Brotherhood of War" set and am working on the "Badge of Honor" set.

Which didn't disappoint. Just what I expected. Fun, but obviously not as new and interesting as the first in the series.

I think something completely different next: Patriots by David Drake. Sounds like fun Mil SF, and I don't think I've ever read anything by David Drake that I didn't like. And I've read most of his books.

I'm reading the Grant County Series by Karin Slaughter and thoroughly enjoying these books. Unfortunately I wasn't able to read them in order. I got most of them from the NYPL and plan to buy the remainder of the series and also check out her stand-alone novels.

I just finished "Vacations Can Be Murder" by Connie Shelton, which I got on smashwords. I saw her whole series (mystery - Charlie Parker) on there one day while browsing, and she had the first book for 99 cents. The first was OK, but this one was much better. I can't wait to read the next one.

Now I'm reading "Bicycle Shop Murder" by Robert Robinson, which I also got on smashwords, although I forget how much it was. Lots of hyphens in the middle of words which has been a little distracting.

I just an ebook of Larry Richardson's 'The Colonization of Mars'.

A bit long, too much scenery description. After a while it got to be too much.

Overall interesting, but some questions posed by various bits of dialogue were never resolved.

I liked it, but there was way too much description of terrain.

( Not intended as a review.)

Just started using my iPod as an ereader. Used to use my Clie years ago. Went to Fictionwise for my first batch and managed to get a book by Diana Gabaldon named 'Outlander'. It was listed in SciFi, but I find it to be more of an historical fantasy novel. Not bad though! Wouldn't mind reading more of her.

Love Koontz and King too. Under The Dome was an outstanding Sci-Fi by King. Well worth the asking price for a newly released ebook.

I'm currently reading "Still Alice", by Lisa Genova. It's an astounding book which will send you on an emotional roller coaster. It came highly recommended and I have to pass on the recommendation - it's a page turner...

Just finished "A Touch of Dead" which is a collection of Sookie Stackhouse short stories by Charlaine Harris. Now I have to go read the last two books to find out how on earth Sookie acquired a fairy godfather grandfather...
