Amazon for example stated, it is not. But that's just their business regulations, not necessarily the common law (which even might be different per country). Lots of people on eBay sell their readers fully loaded. Majority of participants in the thread was convinced, it never would lead to any punishment. I sell them without my content, in their original condition. I still have the 360, I love it, I don't know why it disappeared on the list, putting it back right now.
I end up reading mostly with the 360 or the K2. |

Sorry, I don't know. I'm not going to try it at the moment, because until we get a firmware update for the Neo, there's no way to re-install the Neo firmware if you decide you don't like the Boox one!

But my guess would be, BeBook and Onyx have some collaboration with the respective shops. Bringing them new customers. So it may be different shops for them... I'll check the forums, whether I'll risk trying it. On BeBook One, my feeling was, BeBook more or less is using the Hanlin firmware with only minor "cosmetic" changes. May be the same here. At least it's the same revision as from Boox... |

#15: BeBook (a bit ugly, looks a bit cheap) #14: Sony 300 (don't like turning pages with the 5-way-button) #13: Sony 700 (great unit, but given Sony 600 it has lost its place) #12: Cybook Gen3 (nice unit, especially after the firmware update. But no real arguments against Kindle 2 and others) #11: iRex 1000S (great unit, but too bulky for me) #10: Sony 600 (very pleasant surprise, but given Sony 900 it has lost its place) #9: Kindle DX (flawless, but the big screen doesn't have any real advantage to me and makes it bulky. Maybe with more advanced PDF support?) #8: Sony 505 (still one of my favorites, but no real advantage over Sony 900) #7: iRex iLiad (still one of my alltime favorites, but replaced by iRex 800) #6: Cybook Opus (only a niche product for me, 5" often difficult to read. But within its niche it's phantastic) #5: Kindle 2 (there's a reason why Amazon is considered market leader) #4: iRex 800 (has grown on me and we've learned a lot in our dialogue with iRex) #3: BeBook Neo (great featureset, way ahead of iRex 800. In Europe, way cheaper than iRex 800. Has potential "to kill them all". Lacks some design "polishing" though) #2: Nook (very elegant, very positive surprise. No problems at all with the touchscreen. And I love the B&N shop and to download eBoks via WiFi) #1: Sony 900 (a real beauty. Display quality a bit below iRex 800, but more than acceptable) Last edited by mgmueller; 02-25-2010 at 04:46 PM. |

Cheers for that, I would have thought that the Neo/Boox would have been above the nook just on feature set alone but obviously the design has a factor on it.
But I bought an iRex 800S based on its screen size and diminutive bezel size after really, really considering a boox. |

Once the Neo has "real" annotation, then for me personally it will be a "killer device". Hopefully that'll happen before too long.

The design is not unpleasant, to my mind. It's a "neutral" sort of thing. Certainly not ugly, like the Kindle, or flimsy, like the CyBook Gen3. The Neo is solidly built, "reassuringly" heavy, and has no obvious defects, for me at least.

But how does it compare to Sony 600, for example? Would you, without knowing, consider them both within the same price range?
