I'm entering too! If I won I want to give it to my Mom. When I went to visit her last spring I showed my reader to her and she loved it, just not in the budget though. (She was supposed to retire but can't now cause of the stock market)

Just posted this on Facebook!

Benifiting children with reading

I have a child that is a slow reader, who has a hard time understanding words and their pronunciation. While my child is advance in other areas of academia, he is 2 grade levels below in his age in reading.

I feel the kindle would be a great device to accelerate my son's reading. With tools like Text-to-Speech(TTS), a built in dictionary, searches and wiki. This device can improve my sons reading ability. I have had some success using Mircrosoft's LIT reader but sitting and reading in a computer is difficult for anybody.

I suppose my son is a reason why I am such a proponent of TTS, and making it accessible to all.

As a parent an a eInk enthusiast I would be monitoring his progress and reporting his success to the community and to publishers as well.

Thank you

I have no idea which reader I'd pick, I'm currently using my Treo 680 for offline reading. I guess the reason why I should win is that I like free stuff!

I wish to enter the give-away...
I need to read on-the-run, as it were, and your inventory seems endless (took two days to read through it)!
At my age, I need to prove I can do this tech stuff.

I don't want to win. After all, I'm lucky enough to have a couple of readers. And I'm lucky enough to be able to replace it if I get carried away whilst too far from the Lounge's Vent and Rant thread. Or I attempt the shoe test on any of my readers.

And anyway, since I'm based in the UK a bunch of the readers I'd like are not legitimately available.

Whilst I'd love to have another, let's face it, it is far more important that someone who hasn't got one, and ideally couldn't get one was to win this. Or at least someone who can tell a good joke and defuse the tension. And most importantly has never, ever posted in a DRM related thread.

However, you should consider that this altruism might be a reverse psychology approach to try and win this, and that I'm actually desperate to add to my liseuse collection. But, if you do believe that, you have to also consider that the person best equipped to pull off such a trick is a moderator, and that I might, actually, be a psockLazyScot, and am simply trying to subvert the rules. Now, you *really* wouldn't want that to happen, would you.

So how about a compromise. I'm sure you've all heard of the likes of BookCrossing, the idea of leaving a book lying arounds somewhere public with a note asking people to take it and read it, but leave it once they've read it. How about doing that with an MR special liseuse, but pre-loaded with as much of the popular free content available on MR and related sites. And with a note suggesting whoever has it comes along to MR and says where it is.

If I were to win an e-reader, it would certainly promote harmony in our home!
(I got a Kindle for my wife, and another for me isn't in the budget right now.)

I would like to participate in the Mobileread.com summer give-a-way!

Hm-mm, why o' why do I deserve to win. Well, as my niece would say, I'm "supercool Uncle Aaron". So, if the children have any say, it should be mine. Um, then another good reason would be that when I read Aesop's Fables to the young ones, if I were to get the PRS-700, I wouldn't have to yell at them for touching the screen anymore and they could participate in page turning! Now how cool is that. Then, there's also the fact that I could go hang out in the local Starbucks with my elitist e-ink reading device so I could hunt for confrontational writers who would like to punch me in my face! (Please search the forums if you are in the dark with that last little tidbit. I'm sure I could come up with a few more reasons if you like. Joking aside, I think it boils down to a love of literature. I would give the device a good home.

DRM? What's that? Deplorable Reading Material?

I *love* that idea, HG. Unfortunately, at about $300 a pop, I'm guessing the likelihood it "disappears" forever is pretty high.

This is a fantastic idea. Bookcrossing with e-inc devices!! We should have several - preferably one of each available model. Any chance of using test-models that has been sent the MR-crew? And we should plaster the devices with MR-stickers or something, and...

Well - I hereby commit to serving the public this way if I win. I'm going to Italy in a few weeks - maybe I could leave it there, and make it the first stop of the MRBCC (MobileRead BookCrossing Community)...?
