This is an incredibly active thread! I thought I would add a brief couple of months down the line update. I have now forgotten how much I paid for it, my faithful original Oasis has a happy new owner in the family, and the Oasis 3 delights every time I pick it up. I let the lighting effect do its automatic thing, and I am always happy with the result. I love the larger size, and the distressed leather case is much more robust that I feared.

Highly recommended.

Merry Christmas everyone,

Been a while since I have been on here.

Yesterday-Christmas Eve, my Son and family came visiting and my Granddaughter was playing with the electric footrest on my chair in the garden room. My Oasis with charging cover must have fallen into the footrest and she closed it! Completely destroyed, smashed screen, bent metal cover, with jagged bits of metal sticking out!

Trying to buy the latest Oasis 3 and wonder if I missed the memo about the charging cover! Do they not make it anymore? I thought it was a great addition, giving that extra battery life. Whilst it didn't share the power properly, when the Oasis was dead the cover would continue to run it.

Thanks for your help.

Chris

Merry Christmas, Chris!

Only the 6" Oasis has the charging cover. Amazon ditched this concept for the 7" Oasis 2 and 3.

I guess too many people complained about the smaller battery in the device itself, which was only good for about 4 hours of reading time, and the dependency on the cover.

Ah, I get it!

The Oasis 2 got bigger, so my charging cover won't work for starters.

Did they have problems with the Oasis 2 charging cover?

Hi Trekk,

Many thanks, that makes sense.

That's it, been and gone and ordered a new 32GB one with brown leather cover.

Be here by next Saturday.

Fortunately I have my old Voyage 7th Edition to keep me going until then!

I hope you enjoy your new device! As I prefer reading with the KoReader app I mainly use Kobo devices, but in my opinion the Oasis 7" is one of the best e-readers on the market (build quality, stable software, etc.). Have fun!

I hope you really love the O3. I still have my O1, the 6 inch one. But I read on my O3 now. Its lovely.

But reading the demise of your O1 was painful. Ouch.

Hi Atunah,

Thanks for your comment. Cannot believe I seemed to miss the fact the 2 and now 3 are larger and much improved beasts.

Here is a photo of the said damage.

The chassis is bent and that is metal sticking out of the top!

You may wish to de-register that...uh...device from your account.

And don't throw it away. Even broken it is still good for a trade in credit. Maybe only $5, but it still gives 25% off on next Kindle purchase.

I think the trade-in deal is only for the US.
