You lose your notes before a save?
It's happened to me a few times and boy does it make me stomping mad. This last time I disposed of the paper copy so I've lost the notes, forever.
Why has this happened? Unfortunately for different reasons I've noticed.
1) I hit the Home physical button by mistake (I'm lefty!) and when I went back to the note, 4 pages were gone!
2) Another time I did a bluetooth transfer, receiving on the Mimas, and when hitting the accept file, I lost pages of the note I was on.
3) It's happened a few other times but smaller amounts lost and I don't remember how it happened.

Anyone else?

If you go to user settings/power/app startup/ does it show any of bouyes note apps as unchecked for background activity, I found unless I checked this after v7 update on the Mars then all these apps would not stay open in the background.

Also I don't know if it will work for the apps you're using but if you long press them and change their refresh rate the typing will be more one to one but might smear.

"Personally I don’t like the default Boyue reading app at all. It butchers the layout of ebooks and uses its own wonky formatting with a bunch of spacing issues."

These devices are supposed to used by Dude users, not one with degre software from MIT.

I was referring more to the os side of things and not stock apps, I personally don't use a single stock app and what I do use in moon + purposely changes spacing to make it easier for me to read including changing margins and line height ect. I'm not sure what you mean by dude users, I do feel like anyone buying these over kindle or something is because they know it is android and they can change it to be whatever. I agree it could be better though and they do seem to be listening but when people ask for fixes or they point them out the new fw is probably already in half its devolpment due to the company having to move forward. If the thing was rootable and unlocked it would have more dev work and people would be fixing these things themselves and posting it. The potential is deifintly there it just seems like they are going through the growing pains all the phone manufactures already did and playing catchup.

don't misunderstanding me Malcom, i like read your posts and appreciate your help, but warning people on buggy devices is important thing and i read a lot views of users before buying device, sometimes i do a mistake, yes i bought a buggy device like Mimas.
I get rid of all stock app, i prefer Koreader now and i'm happy with that.

Hardware of OB or Boyue devices are well designed; the issue is on software.

i would like mimas boyue OS pdf app to have a marker tool as the xodo pdf app does.

i use mimas to read a lot academic pdf docs and the writing feature is really useful but i miss the marker pen too.

The new features are good, anyway would be nice the tool menu in the boyue OS pdf readidng app act as the note app, stay in the upper side and collapse the same way.

I am using Boyue Likebook Mimas from few months. After last update screen don't respond few to over a dozen seconds after last use. Physical button works and after pressing one of them the screen is responding during short time.
Anybody knows the reason of such behavior?

Are you saying that if you sleep the device and come back to it its non responsive till you hit a physical button then it will respond for a couple seconds then not respond again?

This happen even immediately after switching on the reader. If I don't touch the screen quickly after few seconds screen is not responding.

Do you have a lock screen with pin code, and once you touch it is the device fine again and stays fine till you sleep it once more? Sounds like the device is sleeping at to low a power state and makes the cpu sluggish to wake up. Others need to chime in if they have similar issues on your fw version. Have you factory reset the device since getting the fw and issue?

Thank you, but I am not using lock screen. Factory reset don't helped me. I noticed that screen works when Wi-Fi is enabled. After switching Wi-Fi off screen is not responding in seconds.

Try going to user settings/power management/sleep time, change it to never to test and if it works pick one higher then 15s. I use never myself (on the Mars) as it doesn't use much power to be on and when you close the case it sleeps.

Hmm well that sucks what is it set to on all the settings of that screen? It still sounds like a settings issue since the rom update was what caused it unless you have faulty hardware and it just showed the flaw. When it goes unresponsive the screen content does not change it just is not touchable right? Does it react to the pen at all while under this state? Also I understand it was factory reset but does it have the issue after you add your own apps or right before anything non stock is added to the device.

After Factory reset I don't have installed any applications. Earlier I use only KOReader and ES File Explorer. The screen in this "suspended" state does not change and don't react to the pen. Only after pressing one of the 4 buttons comes alive for few seconds. I also have noticed that screen works normally when reader is connected to PC via USB.

That is very strange. It's like the digitizer loses power or something. What battery percent is the device at, I would leave it on the charger and see if it is the same while under full charge off the plug.
