Edit: Oops, updated my Kindle Previewer thought it might help, didn't knew it breaks the plugin. Let us wait till our Lord and Saviour @jhowell updates it.

I've been trying to get the KFX plug in with Calibre to work, but I keep getting same errors no matter what file I try to convert (even one with just a single letter in it).

calibre, version 3.13.0

ERROR: KFX conversion failed:
Cannot convert [file name]
Conversion error: Kindle Previewer
error: Exception in thread "main" com.b.a.n:
Unknown option: -allowYJConversionForJP

(I have the latest Kindle Previewer installed and working.)

Any ideas?

I think that this is the error that is mentioned above in the thread - the plugin is currently incompatible with version 3.17.1 of the Previewer. Until the plugin is updated, you have to use 3.17.0, link to which is also posted in the thread.

Not only Enhanced Typesetting, but the file is nearly half the size of the MOBI version!

On the other hand, the conversion appears to delete the Table of Contents. Is there any way to prevent that?

Can you describe this problem in more detail?

I converted several books with the latest version of the plugin and Previewer and had no problem with the table of contents.

I tried converting Ulysses and got the following error

Check your conversion settings. Calibre conversion has a "Table of Contents" tab with several options that can affect the table of contents in books. For example, selecting "Force use of auto-generated Table of Contents" could erase the TOC in some cases.

If you post a conversion log from a book that exhibits this problem I may be able to see something significant there. Even better, if you also post an example EPUB that causes this problem that would give me a better chance to duplicate it. It would need to be either a sample of your own devising, a book no longer under copyright, or one obfuscated using the ScrambleEbook plugin.

That is one of the most common conversion problems. The Kindle Previewer doesn't accept books with large HTML tables. If you want to convert that book you will need to first edit it to either remove or break up the large tables within it.

That log shows the book being rejected by kindlegen due to the invalid tag "data-AmznRemoved". (That could be present if your original source file was MOBI format.) You need to edit the book to remove this tag wherever it occurs in the HTML content.

I found a way to work past this error.

1. After you click on convert, open the options for Table of Contents

2. Increase the Chapter threshold from 6 to 19.

3. If it still shows the same error, tick the box on " Do not add detected chapters "

Some other problems may be fixed in the " Look and feel > Layout ". Tick " Linearize tables"

I converted from an .azw3 file. The .kfx output works perfectly in Kindle Previewer but when I load it to my Kindle Paperwhite 3, most images don't show up.
