But, really, who cares what it is about, who the author or editor is, what it is rated, or any of that other stuff? It doesn't matter. You see, the ebook is free, and the Whispersync audio companion to it is free.

Furthermore, the audio is regularly priced $14.95. Does that number ring a bell? Well, it should, because that is the minimum regular price of an audio needed for an audiobook to qualify as a purchase in the current Buy 4, Get $10 (credit) (B4G10) promotion by Amazon/Audible. The upshot is, you can get this audio for free, but it counts as one of the four audiobooks needed to get the free $10! Wow!

Let's say that you don't like the audiobook and don't want the audiobook. Fine. Just delete it after you've gotten the deal. But, if I were you, I would wait to delete it from my library until I got my $10 credit and, just to be real safe, after the promotion is over, too. You don't want Uncle Jeff (Bezos) catching you and you getting into trouble, now do you? I thought not.

I used this deal to get the fourth and final audiobook that I needed. Amazon's telling me that I should expect to see the $10 in ten days or so.

I'm not a big audiobook buyer, but I did go through a period of a year or so when I was accumulating some audiobooks for my sister-in-law with failing eyesight. Yes, I appreciate your posts very much, GtrsRGr8! I know they helped me stretch dollars to get some of the audiobooks she wanted.

Sorry - That's Whispersync 4 Voice. That's the syncing between Audible and Kindle reading (for those who switch back and forth). It's also where the discounts come from. Every month on the Amazon whispersync page they offer a freebie - get the Kindle book and get the Audible match for free. Last month it was the Blue Fairy Book. This month (whenever that finally starts in Amazon's world) has yet to be posted.

If you're using the drop-down menu for navigating on Amazon.com (that is, the drop-down menu on the top left side of the home page labeled "Shop by Department") there is an entry under "Books & Audible" labeled "Whispersync For Voice." If you click on that, you'll be at the W4V main page. The third entry in the menu on the left says "Read and Listen for Free." This selection changes each month. TM or I will also usually post an update on this here as well.

We've got two different freebies from ChristianAudio. First, since no one else has bothered, the freebie for the month is "Tortured for Christ" by Voice of the Martyrs founder Rev. Richard Wurmbrand. This is a book about the author's experience of religious persecution, imprisonment, and torture in (I believe) Soviet-controlled Romania. As usual, if you are interested you can get the book here through the month of April.

You'll have a little less time to make up your mind on the second book, "Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream" by David Platt. This one is available for free here until April 9.
