I'm confident they'll sort the technical problems. The rest? Who knows? They did fix the "Recommended/Shortlist" situation in the last go round, so maybe.

Super update! The kobo touch keeps getting better and better! Please thank the developers for truly listening to the desired features--perhaps they're avid readers and also see the value in these updates!

A couple of requests I have:
1. Something similar to X-Ray on Kindles (Tap "X-Ray" to view a list of all passages from the book that mention the idea, person, or topic you're interested in, as well as detailed descriptions from sources like Wikipedia.) I suck at remembering descriptions of characters, so this is a useful feature!!!
2. Shelves were an awesome addition! How about the next step being a way to sort content within shelves?
3. Fix the bug where if you mark a book as Finished, it doesn't update the Reading Stats. The only way to get it to register as a finished book is to open the book, navigate to the last page of the book and change the page so the kobo knows it's now finished.

I agree with the rest of the people...my upgrade worked, but if there are bug fixes to the original 2.0.0...i'd rather it be 2.0.1 so that i don't have to factory reset my device and lose all of my customization.

Ditto. I'm currently having a couple of small problems like the cover issue, and I've already "shelved" a few hundred books. Please don't make me do it again. I already lost all my custom data when I signed out and back in as recommended. That hurt.

Kobo Touch, firmware 2.0: I'm trying to sign out of my wife's account, and sign in to mine, but when I do so (the WiFi IS connected), it restarts itself and brings me to the initial language setup screen. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you everyone!

@WeAreTheSame: it is working as designed. The idea is to avoid the need for a factory reset to change accounts. SO yes.... you will have to redo the initial setup.

The bright spot is that the side-loaded books are still on the unit.

Hmm... that's too bad. How great it would be to just switch Kobo accounts on the fly when my wife wants to read her purchased books if I'm signed in. But, bad with the good I guess Thanks for the quick reply, Peter!

One option that you could try is to have her download the ePub version of her books, then, use the powers of "Apprentice Alf" (just google him) and calibe to send DRM free versions to your Touch without having to worry about who bought them.

quick update to this 'issue'. tried it again and the formatting was fine, must have been a one off due to buggy internet.

Forget about hacked firmware and plugins (for which kobo is not responsible) and the situation does not appear that complex at all. What remains are a few ebook formats and sideloaded vs. kobo loaded books. (Note that 'sideloading' books is not a hack but part of the core functionality.) Assuming that there are no hardware variations in between devices the only potential factor introducing some complexity is the update history of individual devices. And if this makes a difference to the outcome of updating the device it is due to bad programming anyway.

Fact is that Kobo's beta testing obviously missed quite a few bugs that are easy to spot and perfectly reproducable (for instance: displaying wrong covers in sleep mode and the way dictionaries are offered) and, from what I read here, quite a number of fatal bugs (readers bricked after applying the update). There is simply no excuse for such a failure to properly test a forced update in a commercial product.

Considering that I've tried applying the 2.0.0 update to a factory reset Touch (running 1.9.11), it can't be any of the above, unless the factory reset is not completely erasing the internal disks before doing the reset.

Are there any people who are not experiencing the book cover issue? (Sleep mode showing the cover of the previously read book when reading two (or more?) at a time.) Does this bug give issues when reading only one book at a time?

What about the slow epub page turns? Is it just those with many many books?

I'm contemplating updating to 2.0 with the zip offered in another thread...

I have only 35 sideloaded ebpub (pdf converted with calibre)
and page turns are slower that FW 1.9.17
The boot time also seem longer...

I only have about twenty books (all sideloaded epubs), and the page turning is now slow enough to be annoying. I'm hoping it will be fixed in the near future, but failing that I'll drop back to 1.9.17.

I suppose it's one of those things which will irritate some people more than others... before I bought my Kobo I evaluated it side-by-side with a Kindle 4, and had it been running this firmware my decision would probably have gone the other way.
