You're probably right.. if none of us get the update today we'll know exactly how sneaky those guys from Ectaco customer service are..

Hey guys,

I got the jetbook (sadly they dont have it out in skincolor black) as well. Used it for about two weeks until i had to recharge it. It works great with my reading music magazines but would even be better in panorama-mode...
Still theres noone having done the firmwareupdate?
Looking forward to being able to surf on the internet with browser and having a screensaver on the jetbook. I hope they get all the features out by today night.
At least they should be honest to us customers about the releasedates...
OK enough guessing, thanks for all the reviews and discussion. Lets get the reading on

update regarding the important thing is that does what it promises but take a while, there's nothing wrong with having a little patience.

My experience is that there will always be people complaining.
If not for releasing updates on time, it is about prematurely releasing updates.

I'd rather wait a bit longer knowing I'll have a reasonable good FW, than to have a bricked device.

It would be great if they would be selling Jetbook housings on the site, so you could unscrew the white housing and replace it!

Chances are very small a company would do something like this though...

What's more probable, is that they'd be selling either artwork stickers or (perhaps even silicone) customized covers/jackets that fit the device; just like with your cellphone.

It'd be cool to order a sticker in any color you want, and paste it over the jetbook. Problem with most stickers is they wear out over time, and are glossy. Also bubbles can form, and removing them leaves glue residue, or the sticker breaks and leaves pieces on the housing.

I prefer if Ectaco would sell their device housing though.... Wished they had something like this...

so as a conclusion, if i'm going to buy this ereader for technical books, is it worth? or going with PB912 or Onyx M92 is better?

I just watched a side-by-side comparison of the Mirasol vs jetbook color. I wasn't interested so much in the comparison as I was in the usability of the jetbook. This comparison afforded me that information.

My take is that the color e-ink is worthy but the underlying infrastructure is wholly lacking; it is abysmally slow and clunky. It would drive me nuts going from a simple touch machine to that; it would be like going from my nook simple touch back to my nook original. The benefit of the large color screen is far outweighed by the lack of speed and awkward control.

Judge for yourself.

It simply is not yet ready for prime time.

But what's your hurry..., you shouldn't be too demanding when it comes to broken promises, lest the new firmware bricks your device.
