Well, my second Coby Kyros tablet was no different than my first: wifi just didn't work reliably, which made every other feature irrelevant.

I'm returning it and getting my cash back. The Coby brand is off my shopping list permanently (had a portable CD player from them a few years back, and it was junk too).

I have ordered a Vizio tablet to replace it. Again, it's all about the 4:3 screen, or I'd just use my Nook Color. The Vizio also has Android Market installed by default, and they are actually updating the software too.

I agree with you on the Coby brand. It did not impress me but Keep in mind the Vox and other tablets have the same WiFi issues. So read up on your tablet before buying. It's not a brand flaw but probably something to do with the android version used. Funny thing is the 7022 I had did not have that issue in the time I used it. Maybe later on it would of showed up but it didn't during the 8 hours I had it.

Well, vizio is a major brand (wal-mart's brand, I think?) Their LCD tv's are consistently top 3 in quality, so I wouldn't be surprised if their tablets have much better build quality.

That aspect ratio makes me shudder, though. But that's subjective of course.

Just scored a Flyer for $259!! :-D The only one left in the city, too. It was "unboxed" but upon opening it in the store, everything was sealed up, never opened, all the stickers on, etc. Looks like it was simply returned unused (probably bought at the ridiculous initial offering and the buyer decided to get something cheaper).

It's charging right now, so I haven't played with it yet, and I've got dance class with the other half tonight, so I won't get to do much with it tonight beyond set up and loading a book or two onto it from Calibre. Gah, I'm so glad I went in and chatted with the rep today. I'll run it through its paces before the return time runs out, in case something is wrong, but the only "opened" was the box itself. So, crossing my fingers.

And my car got the clean bill of health along with the new timing belt, so she should be good for awhile (knock wood!).

Ouch on the Coby troubles The sad thing is, they're one of the higher rated budget tablets on Amazon.

I am so happy for you! If it turns out to have problems I would go through the company instead of the store. I have my fingers crossed it will be perfect for you! You got a great deal!
My netbook was a display item at BB. I got it cheaper because of it and it still works like it should.

We just dumped two grand into our vehicle. New tires, water pump, struts and wheel bearings. Turns out the last people who worked on it put the brake pads on backwards and used the wrong oil. So it better be running like a champ for a good long while now.

Lenovo IdeaPad A1 - Just Arrived!

While my Mom is waiting patiently for her belated birthday present, a Kindle Fire,
my IdeaPad A1 came by UPS today.

All I can say is WOW! For a 7" tablet at $249, this is exactly what I want. The crisp
and clear resolution of 1024 x 600 with vivid colors and excellent touch response.
And viewing angles out the gazoo.

When I turned on the new unit, it goes through a setup to connect to a wi-fi connection,
before coming to Lenovo's customized home screen.

Of course, the first thing I do is click on the Market icon. Lo and behold, I have FULL
access to the Android Market place. I proceed to search for Netflix and install. What
great picture and smooth motion. Cable TV ... look out!

By the way, I should order a second one, as the black version of the 16 Gb model can
be purchased for just below $200!

IdeaPad A1 for $199.20

Well, I must get back to installing other useful apps, such as wifi file transfer pro and
astro file manager ...

ES File Manager is better. Thanks for your feedback as I have my eye on the A1 but waiting to see if it has any issues. It seems alot of the tablets have wake up/WiFi freezing issue. Though installing Advanced WiFi locked app seems to solve the problem.

The Tablet A1 comes with great apps pre-installed such as:

* ES File Explorer
* eBuddy
* Docs To Go (the full version - able to create word, excel, ppt files)

I've handled the HTC Flyer, ACER Iconia A100, and other fairly cool
7" tablets, but for me they had something lacking in design. But for
now I have found my new best friend ....

Then you don't need Astro installed. It sounds really nice. Enjoy your tablet! I just got a email from Amazon. They have received my return so now waiting for a refund to be issued.

Edit: I got the email it's been issued! I wasn't expecting to get a full refund but I did. I got back the price of the tablet + shipping! Now to wait for it show up on my card.

Can you confirm access to Books and Video in the Market? This was the big question. Thanks.

I wonder: Will all the apps in the Amazon Appstore for Android work on the Fire?
