I have two cats and a bird. One cat ignores the bird; the other would dearly like to be able to play with him. I don't think he really understands that the play would be short-lived (and so would the bird). It's just... all those fluttery feathers! How can he help it? So he sits and watches the bird, and then if I say his name (the cat's, that is), he looks all guilty and runs off.

The bird doesn't know he should probably be afraid of either of the cats, naturally.
