The cover for my black 650 came today! I opted for the one without the light. In general, my impressions are positive. It's certainly attractive. The leather and synthetic material offer a nice contrasting look, and the construction of the cover itself seems solid. It's also comfortable to hold. We'll see how the non-leather material holds up over time, but I'm not super concerned. In my opinion, the purpose of a cover is to absorb and prevent damage to the reader itself, not decoration.

One thing that initially concerned me was that the plastic snaps that attach to the reader seem somewhat flimsy and fragile, in contrast to the reader's solid construction. After snapping the reader in, it seems reasonably secure, so we'll see how it goes. Also, the magnets that hold the cover shut are a bit weaker than I would like.

Aside from the placement of the snaps, I think this is the same basic design as the covers for the 600/300. I was wondering what people's impressions are of the durability of the covers for the previous models?

Durability , to some extent, appears to depend on how it's treated but, having said that, my 505 in its cover is around 3 years old, travels in my jacket pocket every day and is fine...

Btw, I picked up the PRS-650 today at Square One Mall in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. They said they had just gotten it in today.

That's really good news. I bought their Executive Jacket (on sale for $15) for my 505 and am really impressed with the protection it offers my reader.

I must live in an ebook reader void. Went to Target and Best Buy today and no new Sony's on display.

It is just that book...

I've got a K2, no K3 yet. Don't even think I really want one at this point. Always thought the Kindles had the fastest turns (especially when I used to compare them to the nooks) The 350 is maybe a split second faster than a K2. So, I'd imagine it'd be on par with the K3. I think it's pretty snappy though.

The other night I was reading and fell into old habits from previous generation readers. I was reading and hit the page forward button when I was about two lines from the bottom of the page and it flashed before I could read the two lines.

I think I'll be going with a Black/Red.
Well, you were correct. I tested with a few other books and I'm happy to report no delays in loading at all. I had not heard anything about problems with "World Without End" as Im fairly new to eReaders, so thank you for the info.

I'm really enjoying this little Sony 350. It's going to be a tough decision as to which one to keep. I WANT to keep both, but it seems a little extravagant for someone who is brand new to eReaders to have two. I really do like being able to surf the web on the K3 (and the browser actually works fairly well), but the Sony is just nicer to read with....

You'll find many of us here with two or three or five eReaders...lol. It must be a disease.

I'm glad you were able to resolve your issue. World Without End may be in need of some DRM stripping to repair faulty HTML, or a couple of polite emails to the publisher.

I'm planning a visit to my local Sony store in the week ahead to "look at" the new models. Will I come home with one? Magic 8 Ball says: "Likely"
