These type of multifunction devices won't expand the market for eReader devices, but can expand the ebook market some by selling books to casual readers who don't read enough to even consider buying a dedicated reader. | |

Please refer back to my post of 4-17-09 - it kinda got lost in some discussion of avatar clothing preferences - while Ian was claiming to be TOTALLY barred from Amazon he was posting on the Amazon discussion boards - something you can only do if you are a customer in good standing - you have to LOG IN as a customer before being allowed to post there.

I saw that, but that still doesn't tell us whether he did or did not have the ability to redownload his Kindle books.

"I have now discovered that I cannot manage my Kindle2 account (I can't log into Amazon) or purchase any new content." This statement (from Ian's first post) contains the basic falsehood in the entire case - since he was able to post on the Amazon boards he COULD log into Amazon. If he has a valid customer log in, he can access his Amazon account - which contains his Kindle account. There is no mechanism I am aware of whereby Amazon can restrict "customers in good standing" from any activity on their own account. Without a valid Amazon account you can't participate in the Amazon Discussion boards. I heartily second krisk - troll all the way. |

There is a big hole in y'all's argument. We all know that an email address is needed for the account at Amazon. What makes you think he only had the one email? I don't know about you, but I currently have 3. |

as I recall, one of Ian's contentions was "all of my accounts at Amazon". additionally it appears that regardless of his status, based on that email, at least the Kindle should have remained active. I still call Troll. |

I'm going to have to cite a bunch of you for name calling. I really should have done it a while ago. Now knock it off. |

You actually used several worse names than that. But I didn't want to single out anyone; I just thought the name calling should stop. EDIT: Okay, "cite" was perhaps the wrong word. All I intended to say was that I thought you should stop. |
