As @rashkae said, you can do this. And it is probably safe. The changes in the firmware that affected the drivers function have been fairly rare. Most were additions that didn't actually affect things, but, I added something later to take advantage of. Collections and series info are the most obvious examples.

I really don't expect this to change, but, there is no way that I'm taking out the warning. Because if something does change, I don't want people blaming me for this. There were some suggestions about changing work a differently, or have more options (such as resetting when calibe is updated). But, with how little anyone actually pays attention to the current message, or even bother to look at the full message, I'm not very motivated. There has been another suggestion to check online if the firmware version is unknown, but, that's just going to feed the "it talks to a server so it must be an invasion of privacy and a massive security risk" trolls.

Then they stick right there again until I repeat the home screen trick.

I set the header and footer to show time remaining, and those progress correctly as I read. But the Reading Progress screen still does not.

The cause is not any of the patches, because I briefly went back to the original 4.18 FW without patching. Same problem.

This is on a Clara with kepubs converted from epub via calibre transfer.

Am I missing something? I'm surprised that no one else has reported this.
I have the same problem on a Glo HD. Does anyone know the issue been reported to Kobo ?

I've spotted a few more (later) comments in this tread of the "same here" type but noting that suggests that the issue is known about and might get fixed.

My opinion is that if you see a problem that you think needs to be fixed, then you should report it. While one report should be enough to get a problem fixed, more reports can help with prioritizing a fix, or, if there are problems reproducing it, they might give extra clues.

In any case, this has been reported and should be fixed in the next update.
