I go low tech, old school: I keep a flat text file, to which I add books that I've actually paid money for. If it was free, nevermind!

The Real Kosher Jesus: Revealing the Mysteries of the Hidden Messiah Kindle Edition
by Michael L. Brown

on sale for a limited time $3.99 (75% off normal price)

"The most influential Jew who ever lived. The most controversial Jew who ever lived. He has been called a rabbi, a rebel, a reformer, a religious teacher, a reprobate sinner, a revolutionary, a redeemer. Some have claimed he was a magician, others the Messiah. Some say he was a deceiver; others say he was divine. Who is this Jesus-Yeshua, and why are we still talking about him two thousand years later?"

"Michael L. Brown holds a PhD from New York University in Near Eastern languages and literatures and is recognized as one of the leading Messianic Jewish scholars in the world today."

This is Michael L. Brown's, a Jewish convert to Christianity, response, from a Christian perspective, to the book a “Kosher Jesus” by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach.

Low tech is kewl.

Maybe that would suffice. I'm not interested in converting ebooks from one format to another really, and that seems like one of the prime benefits of Calibre. However, the organizational tool(s) in Calibre are of great interest to me.

Happened to be a cookbook that was on sale at Amazon for $1.99 until just a day or two and I debated over and over about buying it. Glad that I didn't now. Sometimes I am jealous of these people who have photographic memories. I've got too many books scattered over too many places. I must start using Calibre or I'm going to get so far behind that I'll never catch up! I'm so far behind now that I can't stand the thought of spending hours and hours on the project. But it's my fault.
That is, in fact, one of the main reasons I use Calibre. I buy many books on sale because I might read them later, so I often have to check sale books to see if I already have them.

Ligonier Ministries (R. C. Sproul) has The Truth of the Cross free for (I think) this week only at the Ligonier online store. It's available as both epub and mobi (you need to add each format separately, but both are free).

Probably would be a time and money saver, then.

The shopping cart experience is annoying. And at one time (and maybe it's still so) I ended up having two libraries with them somehow. I guess that that second problem could occur at numerous places, though.

If you peeps can wait a day or two, I saw this ebook advertised free elsewhere in the last few days, and it seemed like a straightforward download. You might prefer that. I'll run across it, again, I'm sure in the next day or two.

I started entering things in Calibre. I found it easier to do "Find" in my flat text file! I do use Calibre to save a copy of books that I care about, that I paid for. And for the occasional format shift of books I acquire in another format.

Found it. It was in an email message that I received. But when you click on "download," it takes you to the same webpage as Diffulgia gave.

In more modern versions, at least, of Microsoft Word, the sort features are pretty powerful in the tables features--you can, for example, have it automatically alphabetize by last name of author, name of publisher, name of book, subject, etc., etc.

Thanks for all of the input. Maybe I'll be stuck in bed for a while for a surgery or something and have plenty of time to decide what to do, and then work on it.

If you want to avoid Ligonier's process on their website, you can download the Kindle mobi for free here.

You can also get the iTunes version free, but if you tell anyone that I mentioned iTunes as a possible place to get an ebook, I will deny it vociferously. ha https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/the...ss/id945548401.

If it's all the same to you, I'll hope that your extra free time is because you win the lottery instead of need surgery.

It's impossible for me to win the lottery: I never play it. But thanks for your kindhearted remark.

Can't stand to stay in bed. Got to be active. When I have to be in bed, and can't read, the only thing that keeps me sane is listening to an audiobook(s).

And, again, it's good to see you back, even if it ends up being just temporary.

Sins We Accept. By Jerry Bridges. (Adapted from Bridges' Respectable Sins).

Free.

https://www.amazon.com/Sins-We-Accep...dp/B00HYFEKBY/.

Free at Christianbook (ePub there), also, and probably at all of the other usual suspects.

KJV Reese Chronological Study Bible.

Now only 99 cents--only 10% of the digital list price!

Extremely highly-rated, but from less than 20 ratings: 4.5 (12) at Amazon; 5.00 (5) at GoodReads

I'm not a fan of the KJV, but the study tools/helps/aids alone are worth more than 99 cents:
· detailed timelines
· geographical and archeological notes that help verify Scripture accounts
· cultural and historical notes that shed light on biblical contexts
· explanations of difficult passages and words
· ages and genealogies of key figures
· translations of weights and measurements to today's usage
· 365-day reading plan

Recent--2016--publication.

Price supposed to be good through April 14.
