I received mine today, rather than Friday. I haven't opened it yet--it's supposed to be the "house" Christmas present, and it came while my partner was at work, and by the time he got home, my son was at work. My partner should be home early enough tomorrow that we can all open it up together before we have to leave for Christmas Eve festivities.

It's just sitting there, taunting me. Luckily I still have about 10 dozen more cookies to bake and lots of presents to wrap...that will keep my mind off of it.

I didn't get one either.

Amazon, why are you torturing me like this? Isn't 76 orders placed in the last six months enough? This does include my subscribe and save orders so it's not that bad, right?

You buy too much stuff. Amazon already has you in its evil clutches. They don't need to bribe you with an Echo to stay on board. Now me, I only bought 1/4 of what you bought. So I needed to be bribed to keep buying stuff.

I think they'll keep it at that price point for Prime members, at least for a while once they have it in stock. If they don't honor it online, I'll give them a call when they do finally show up in stock and ask for it.

I also have confidence that Amazon will, for a limited time, offer the $99 price to Prime members once Echo becomes widely available...at least for those who've requested an invite.

The problem is, you can't actually complete checkout unless you've received an invitation (or are about to get one, perhaps). After pressing the "Proceed to checkout" button, you'll see the message "We're sorry, purchasing this product is by invitation only."

I've been monitoring that link for several weeks, when invites were going out regularly. I don't think the $199 price means anything. I'm guessing the Prime discount will show on the final checkout page (where shipping and other discounts are indicated). I can't test that, however, since I haven't received an invite.
