Yeah, the first self-pubbed book to win a RITA. She was originally published by Bantam though, so she hasn't always been self-pubbed.

Checking in

I didn't buy any books this week. Maybe I've been cured or there just hasn't been any I've come across I don't have access to.

I read:

Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) 4.5 stars. I loved this book! You can say the honeymoon is over in this one between Cat & Bones. It was great to see some conflict as we know any real relationship isn't going to be HEA. I laughed through much of it and there was a part where Bones ticked me off really good but I later forgave him.

First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) 4 stars. I went into this thinking from reading reviews that I wouldn't like it that it would be slow but I thoroughly enjoyed Spade's story. Yes it's more Romance than UF but it's done right enough to keep me interested.

Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, #2) 3 stars. I just finished this a few minutes ago. It's was slow, boring and the romance which is the main part of the story unlike the other books it was not believable. I didn't feel the chemistry between them and this one could be called a Romance because it focused more on the physical relationship than the plot. Now normally I don't mind this as I love Romances it just wasn't done right. The only thing that saved it for me was Vlad and the small part Bones and Cat plays in the story.

So that means I can now read book 5 of Cat and Bones!! I'm also looking forward to Vlad's books. I'm in this to the end it seems. I can't read anything else even if I try I'm stuck in this world. Yes it's that good!

I had a pretty meh reading week after spending the past several weeks glomming Breaking Bad and True Blood.

On a positive note I recently upgraded my phone to the LG G3 (after giving up on the Oneplus One becoming widely available). I've discovered that I really like reading on the device. I didn't care to read on my 4.7" Samsung Galaxy S3 but the 5.5" display on the LG G3 with it's ultra high pixel density make it very nice little reader!

I bought more than thought this past week, taking advantage of some 75% codes and ARe's 30% rebate.

I guess I do read fairly fast. But in all fairness, the Glenncailty Castle series were short books and 3 of those on my list are novellas

I am still watching my Hill Street Blues DVD box set, but only spent one day this week on it. I am up to season 6. It amazes me how some storylines I remember very clearly and others I have no memory of at all.

No, it's not bad! I'm LOL because I've been doing that more often than not these days! Just like the other day when I said I couldn't remember the last 5 star book I read. Half an hour later I'm chuckling because I've actually read 3 in the past month or so. I swear my brain is slowing down faster each day.


I was bad again this week, using the last of Kobo codes to buy another 19 books for $21. Overall though still staying pretty close to my budget and I'm still cutting back on $1-1-click buys too. My total additions to my library are down half of what they were at the start of the year [was averaging 60+ books per month, now down to 27. (books bought-books read per month)]
