The main reader (NeoReader) doesn't offer this feature - only black or white highlight.

Scribbles do disappear for me too. See Boox M96 Wishlist page for details.

Edit: Actually I've just had a look at that page myself and it was reported against the old firmware. I will check it again against the latest shortly...

What is the best chess from android market for e ink ?

What would be a good comic app ?

And how you deal with dust on screen ? Screen protectors or you just wipe the screen often ?

All thanks in advance

scribbling bar

@Booxtor

In auto crop mode the scribbling bar hides part of the text and it’s not possible to set the M96 reader in a way such that there were no scribbling tabs taking a lot of screen space while scribbling. This is frustrating because in every page you have to manually move the position of the text to be able to write, underline or even read the lower part of it. I hope M96 team can release an update which will address this issue.

Thank you.

i bought the Onyx Boox M96 and I like it but I am going to return it and get my money back. Why? Because this tiny little stylus will get lost easily and the device will become useless. Clearly this stylus technology is simple and we should be able to buy 3rd party replacement stylus' cheap. Buying one at a crazy high price from their website is not an answer. What a shame, to return a $350 ereader because the company makes it hard to replace a cheap tiny stylus. I love what the company is doing and maybe will buy from them in the future. I hope they will learn from this mistake. AdSu

How much is the price of that stylus?

--- And no other stylus will work?

Thanks.

€26 for a new stylus from onyx-boox.com
No replacement stylus is available from ereader-store.de yet.

I think it's that price because it is a passive electro-magnetic stylus... I suppose you could try using a wacom digitizer stylus, but I think they are just as expensive for something that may or may not work...

I´ve read a good suggestion here before where the idea was to insert the stylus inside the body of a standard ball pen, like Bic´s. There was the need to cut a little short end from the bottom of the empty pen´s body so that the stylus would get thru it fine, and that is all. A nice Do-It-Yourself body for your small stylus.

Hope this helps

I've ordered an M96 from ereader-store.de, and it has the new "fat stylus with eraser". I'm not sure how or what is different, but I'll let you know when I get it.

THanks for nice replies. I'm sure the problem is simply limited supply. An idem like this would cost pennies to make in China. To include only one with the device. Now, if it worked with-without stylus, like other items they are producing, stylus would not be that critical. But if I take it anywhere and lose the stylus along the way, it it useless. They should have supplied more with the tablet or should help people know where to get more cheap. No hard feelings on my part, just better to return it now before it happens.

BTW I think the device is a bit underpowered. There is a lot of waiting, and I don't mean screen refresh. Waiting while the device processes what it will do next. I think they will realize it needs a more powerful processor and release an updated version soon. Also a shame that it does not have a light. Clearly they intended it to have a light, because it is in the users manual. Again, I don't want to seem like I am complaining too much. I like what this company is doing. I will buy this same device from them when it comes out slightly faster processing, a light to read at night, and more than one stylus or some directions as to what stylus are compatible. Go Onyx-Boox. Long like e-ink. AdSu

Okay I've got it today, and for a "fat" stylus, it measures up to be "normal pen size", or in other words, very comfortable to hold and use.

Picture comparison with a pen

I have the M96 case, and the stylus is a tight fit - so it won't be falling out any time soon.

As a side question, can anyone recommend a "ruled paper" scribble app, so I can try writing as if it was a sheet of paper?

Issues I'm working through:
The drawing "point" is not the tip of the nib, but the base of the nib. As I hold my pens at an angle + the fact I'm left handed, means that I barely see what I'm writing. Also, for precision drawing, it can cause mistakes.

I've not been successful with using the "eraser" yet - I've only tried the scribble app, but using the "eraser" side currently draws. Perhaps eraser mode is only for PDFs?

I've just found a note that was bundled with it - 'eraser functions will be supported in updates after Nov 17th'.

So not supported yet
