I agree with the pinning of tiles. I would like to be able to at least pin the current book I am reading - sometimes I ferret around my books and then go to the homescreen and it has been reshuffled off the screen. Oh and in an aside - I still have NO sync tile on my homepage Not complaining - just curious! I am running 2.8.1

I tried to load Mark4 firmware on a Mark3 (old Touch model) device without any modification to the firmware. It installed without any problems. Tried it with fw. 2.6.1(b) and 2.5.2.

That it installed without any problemsis good but have you noticed any problems while using the new firmware? Other than those already noted in other threads.

I tried it because the old Touch (Mark3) had still a huge top margin in 2.6.1. Unfortunately, installing the Mark4 version did not solve it.

Finally, the Aura got the update. For the first time, after the update the book cover appears on the sleep screen without having to deal with the affiliate.conf file. Good point to Kobo and firmware 2.8.1 So far, no update for the Mini. |

I updated to 2.8.1 today and wish I'd never synced - what a pain in the a**e my kobo has become. I am a complete technophobe so really don't know what to do about the problem. I am currently reading a kepub (?) received via wifi and every time I go to pick it up the footnote on the page reads 'loading chapter.....' and never changes. I can't go forward or backwards. I've tried powering off and on again and soft reset. What else can I do, I'm starting to lose patience!

I have Kobo Utils in Calibre, so will have to investigate the font size thingee. There is so much to learn around this field - not only the reader, but management (calibre) and tweaking (Sigil) - especially when I'm not really a puter wiz. I actually thought accessing the metadata within Kobo had also gone, but reading about the long press in relation to something else, I gave it a try and there it was. I don't think functions that aren't obvious are a good idea from a GUI POV. I doubt my wife would've sussed that, and there is no icon or anything to say that's where that info is now hidden. I need to now make some posts in the calibre and sigil forum to get some answers. Thx again.

Thanks for the advice but the whole screen was frozen, it didn't matter where I tapped it, nothing happened. I have now done a factory reset and setup via the desktop app and it is all working okay again......apart from the light!

Got 2.8.1 on my Aura today. Haven't noticed anything radically different...was this just more of a Glo thing? I had hoped for changes on the PDF front, but sadly nothing has been improved. |
