Am I right to understand that to mean that the SJRLC library no longer offers that book ?

Yet when I click on the link to that "Borrow book from SJRLC", the book is still available.

This message means that at some time in the past that book was detected at that library and now a new search has not found it. It could mean that the book is no longer available, but also could indicate a problem with the search.

I tried searching for the two books you listed and the problem you are experiencing is not occurring for me. They were consistently found in my testing. I will need a copy of the log produced for your search in order to try to debug the problem further. (At the search completion popup use "View log" then "Copy to clipboard" and then paste it into a reply.)

As a side note, the configuration option "Unlink books if no longer found by search" can be set to cause book-library links to be removed when a subsequent search does not detect the book at the library. This is not set by default because sometimes a temporary problem occurs during search that results in a book not being found when it is actually still present at the library. This typically does not occur for OverDrive, but can be seen sometimes at other providers. For example, the same search done multiple times in succession at Amazon will sometimes produce different sets of results.

@LilyEvie: You should check the plugin configuration for any inadvertent changes to the settings that cause search results to be filtered: the allowed formats and language.

Thanks for your reply. I ran "check and repair book links" and have nothing checked except for epub and mobi in "customize over drive link".

The log you posted shows five books with the "Links no longer found (will be kept)" warning:

The log shows that these books are all only available in "Adobe PDF eBook" format. Since you have only EPUB and Mobi/Kindle formats enabled for searching in the plugin, these books are rejected by the search. The plugin is performing as intended.

Either you had PDF also enabled at some time in the past or there was a bug in a previous version of the plugin that incorrectly allowed these books to be linked.

In this case it means that incomplete information about each book is returned in the response to a search of OverDrive. This information is then updated with more details found by querying the web page for each book or from the plugin's cache. It has noting to do with any updates to the contents of books.

Yeah, I know about that. I thought for some reason @LilyEvie might have been referring to books on the catalog getting updated by OverDrive and being moved to a new ContentID.

i still have an isue with links not displayign in book details. you kindly explained why I shoudl not expect to see 2 x library links but here's an instance where I don't see even one.
metadata is :

so the link is found.
but all I see in book details is

what do I have to do to see the FLP link. I can get it by deleting all the other links & re-running search but that is drastic.
does calibre have a display bug ? ( i tried to ask that in main forum but I got zapped for double posting )

NB more tests on this book. deleted google & ISBN id. still did not see FLP
deleted everything & re-searched. plug in said found/updated but still did not see anything in details.
restarted calibre. i then could see FLP

re-ran download metadata. I now have 3 other entries & FLP is also visible.

There IS a long-standing bug in the plugin that can sometimes cause the links to not be displayed at all in the books details panel until calibre is restarted. Anything that affects the set of installed plugins (such as adding or removing) will cause this to occur. You may be running into this problem.

It is a side effect of the hack I used to have the same plugin work as both a UI plugin and a metadata plugin, which is not actually supported by calibre. The plugin needs to be a UI plugin in order to interact fully with the user and a metadata plugin in order to display links in the books details panel. I could have implemented this as two separate plugins, but that would added complexity for the user.

I was looking for a particular book and had trouble so I changed and searched for the author for a blank book:
Seems to be a problem... using Calibre 2.10.0 and Overdrive Link 1.23.1 and searching for 'Books by Author' for Guy Gavriel Kay.
Manually verified the following:
- overdrive.biblioottawalibrary.ca has 9 books by author
- overdrive.downloads.kcls.org has 12 books by author
- freelibrary.lib.overdrive.com has 3 books by author

But search Books by author on Overdrive Link generated this log:

But I should have mentioned that I do have a number of the author's books already listed in Calibre, and that before the above search, I also unlinked the Overdrive Links prior found books.

I expected OD Link to point out ALL the books available at the libraries, not just discover an book that I didn't have in Calibre...???

It should link all calibre books, and save a list of all discovered books.

The Results list only shows new stuff, that was found on this run but not already saved from previous runs.

Hmm. I notice it says 20 unmatched books, and says they are all in calibre already. It does say possibly missing links, not sure what that means. But the plugin definitely thinks the books are already matched in calibre.

The plugin only updates calibre books if they are selected when the search is started. This is intentionally done to prevent unexpected changes to your calibre library. So if you have many books by Guy Gavriel Kay in your calibre library, but select only one when you start the search, then only links for that one book will be updated. Any links found for the unselected books will be ignored. The multiple message in your log that start with "Discovered book in calibre (possibly missing links)" occur for each of these ignored books.

Currently the results summary never contains information for unselected books. Perhaps it would be better if it indicated that they were found, but ignored. I will consider this for a future plugin release.
