I think I bricked the touchscreen because I tried a touch lux 2 fw version... So the oldest available is my current firmware 5.7... Do you have any suggestion ? Thanks again ! |

I hope this means that you have the device working again.
As far as getting pbimageviewer.app working, I don't have any suggestions at this time. Maybe you can contact PocketBook and ask them to update their SDK. I don't think I can give you anything until they do that. I noticed that koreader supports CBZ files. Maybe it also supports CBR, as well. If it does, maybe you should switch to that program instead. |

Hi
I'm using pbiv on an Inkpad 840. Thank you for this great app! Is there a way to have it update the Recent Books list in homepage? Or maybe the Read / Unread status as shown in the file browser? Otherwise, when the content is split into many cbz files, sometimes I forget which chapter I was reading last time and I have to open them all until I get to the right one. |

I have code for adding to the Recently Opened list already in the program, and I know it worked on older firmware versions. Which firmware version are you using? Perhaps they changed something else again in a new version.
Edit: The code I thought I remembered was actually for adding the book to be automatically opened at boot-up. It looks to me like getting on the Recently Opened list used to be automatic, but not anymore. I'll look through the latest SDK to see if I'm missing anything. I figured it out! It only works for the internal memory.
When I bought an SD card and moved all my comics there, the recent list stopped working. I just moved one of my smaller folders back into the internal memory and sure enough, when I open its files they show up in the recent list. Edit: I tried with ePub files and they have the same problem, so it's either a firmware bug or something wrong with my SD card. I'm using firmware W840.5.4.83 release date 20141022_132634 Can anybody check whether their SD card media shows up in the recent list? Last edited by etatoby; 12-03-2015 at 05:30 AM. |

I installed sw_20141023_840_W_5.4_98 on my Inkpad, and books that I open on the SD card show up in the Recent Books icons. I notice that the firmware I tried was released the day after yours. Perhaps it was a bugfix release for the one you have, and you should upgrade to the 5.4.98 version on your device.

Uploaded new versions of the program built against a new version of libunrar (5.3.8). It seems to fix problems with reading CBR files on newer firmware versions. I also fixed a problem with wide char filenames that can't be converted perfectly to char. The program works under firmware 5.11 on my Inkpad, so I'm hoping that it works for @Melgo on the Touch Lux 3.
I noticed that checking files when opening a CBR file sometimes fails even though the file ultimately unpacks correctly, so I recommend that people disable that option in the Configuration. |

This is my favourite program for reading mangas, it's fast and do its job right. My only disappointment is to not being able to show the actual page/number pages at the bottom with a little overlapping box. Also it would be great if the status bar would show up when you open the menu (or tap on the top) when you have the status bar desactivated in the options.
As you know, the pb can't handle the metadatas and display the cover of the cbz files. That's why I digged a bit by experimenting with my pb 840 and found a way to do it. In /system/cover_chache (yes I didn't mispelled it) are stored the covers for the explorer with the storage id, the path to the file, then the filename.ext.png. So you can create a cover and the explorer will show it (I tested). There is also a cache folder of covers for the startup page of the ereader in /system/cache/desktop but I couldn't make it read my cover unfortunately. For the metadatas part, I found the file /system/explorer-2/explorer-2.db which is a database in sqlite that store the informations the explorer uses (author, title, serie, path, id storage, tags, etc...). So I was thinking of making a batch file that would automatically update that database with the metadatas included in the archives and put a cover for them. I was wondering if it was possible to exclude an image from being viewed by pbimageviewer by putting it in a certain folder in the archive (currently it seems to read images in all folders) or by putting a tag indicating the file is a cover in a xml file without having to rename the image to another extension. Also it would be nice if it could read the summary from an xml file (if it doesn't already). Last edited by d3xMachina; 01-02-2016 at 08:12 PM. |

The status bar was completely changed in firmware version 5. In version 4 and before, the page number, image file name, and various other bits of information were shown in the status bar. That all went away in version 5, and I can't figure out how to display any of that information. That's my biggest complaint about the new firmwares (followed by the removal of the "Open with..." menu item). I'll think about popping up the status bar when you tap, but it's complicated by the fact that the status bar is at the bottom in older firmware versions, and at the top in newer versions. It will have to wait, though, because I'm too busy with work now to do any coding on this application.
I like your idea about adding the cover images. I know at least one other person here who wished they could see cover images for their manga. I hope you go ahead with your project and distribute it when it's done. As for the XML metadata, is their a standard for it, and is it part of other CBZ/CBR files already? |
