I have a question regarding those who use the LC already:
If you read web articles (transferred with the pocket-app), and while reading want to make a short note that reminds you of something, or if you want to export a highlighted text: what is the most convenient way to get that text from the Kobo to the PC? |

I'm old enough to remember the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime when it was new to the world. The rainbow toggle works.. but I think it reduced the DPI of the manga in the process. Now I know why the toggle is there - Rakuten is Japanese. Newer manga that uses primarily digital drawing has little to no issue since they're not using screentone, but older stuff or by older artists? You might get quite a bit of that, especially if it was designed for print release first. |

I’m afraid I remember watching Astro Boy on our B&W TV when I was five. *iamold.jpg* The newer manga may not be using Deleter“screentone”, per se, but they do still love their screentone effects. I encountered the rainbow on a newer manga. I haven’t read any manga since I posted this, but I hope to soon. What I’d love is a Nickelmenu option to toggle rainbow mode to make that process just a little faster. |

Just got the Clara Color today. Wow the screen is DARK. I read without backlight when I can, and this thing looks ridiculous without a backlight unless you're in blazing sunlight outside, and even then, it's not good.

Now I know, why I received no anwers...
I'm shocked: It's not possible to send web articles without losing pictures to the Kobo Libra... What I have been using for years, Amkazon's Send to Kindle extension, or Postlight Reader, which always work perfectly in extracting the articles from webpages, with pictures, of course, Pocket is total garbage. Think about this: If you read black & white, there is no need for color. But when you read articles with charts with multiple colored lines? Then color is a necessity. I can't differentiate these lines on the Kindle. And what is Kobo doing? They make many promo videos about how great it is to read manga comics... While the only professional benefit for being able to read in color? Their solution is omitting pictures. But you can have dropbox and google to transfer your ebooks. Yes, because I need to read 50 books per day, right... This is more like what I know from Chinese products: fancy technical specs, but when it comes to usability, the horror begins. I have not expected that Kobo was on that level. |

I'm not a highlighter type, but I'm pretty sure I would be able to if I downloaded my web pages as epubs or pdfs, which you should be able to do. e.g. I have a print-to-pdf app on my android, others use calibre or whatever to convert web pages to epub. I even have a pocket substitute (Shiori) running as a Golang binary on my Clara (more for giggles and to impress the ladies - I haven't tested it much |

Copy /paste and clean up in LO Writer, save odt as docx and use Calibre to make an epub. It's an ebook reader, not a tablet. "Send to Kindle" certainly doesn't work as well as DIY, and isn't part of the Kindle. The Kobo ereaders are exactly what they claim to be and work better than anything else for sideloaded content. Actual epubs, not web pages! |

I'm currently happily looking at images of Jeremy Clarkson and Kaleb Cooper in an article I saved to Pocket and was transferred to my Kobo Libra Colour.
Remember the Pocket integration depends on how the document has been processed by the Pocket backend. Kobo can only handle content that has been saved by the backend as Articles; not those saved as WebPages. Sent from my Pixel 7a using Tapatalk |

You DON'T want to go out into the sun! Paradoxically, the brighter the ambient light the worse it gets. As soon as the light outshines the front light the screen turns a dull gray. When the front light is brighter than the ambient the background is whitish and looks ok. |

It was the reason why I did go with the black frame. Never understood ereaders with a white frame. Must be horrible in sunlight without sunglasses. |

I am now used to the dark screen in the sunlight - it's a bit jarring at first, but it is a minor issue. I have the white, and am delighted with it.

I have now made peace with my Libra Colour and bought a Libra 2 (actually a Tolino Vision 6) sleep cover for it for less than half the prize of a 'proper' LC cover. As was said here in the forum about half the USB port of the LC is obscured by the Tolino cover but a cutter knife quickly rectified that problem.
Now waiting for the firmware patches to be completed to make the device fully functional . |

I realise ergonomics are a very individual thing, what one person likes another won't. But I am finding my Libra Colour more comfortable than the libra 2.
I tend to hold my reader by the wedge end on its side. I rest my thumb on the top button, and use that to turn the pages. My Libra 2 seemed to have more of a pronounced curve on the wedge, ending in a more pointy edge. My libra colour doesn't have the sharp edge, and that feels nicer to hold. It is also a bit lighter, it feels to me, and it has snappier buttons compared to the more mushy button on my Libra 2. I haven't noticed much of a problem from the greyer contrast and I've been reading at 5% light. I haven't tried it outside yet: maybe this weekend if the weather is nice enough . I've had my Kobo Libra Colour since a few days after launch, and I have to say I love it to death.
I'm devouring the Delphi Classics 'Masters of Art' books, downloading lots of illustrated books, oohing and ahhing over every lovely cover of each book I read. I've been wanting a color ereader for years now, but could never justify the price before. I'm glad I waited for this one. I can't see myself ever going back to B&W. My only gripe is I can't seem to get comics to be readable, so if anyone has any tips or tricks for that, let me know. (I tried KOReader but it didn't help) |
