Which one do you use? I've been using Loratadine (Claritin, I think) for the last few years. Seems to work well, doesn't leave me groggy, and while it doesn't really last 24 hours (more like 20 hours), the studies seem to indicate that taking a double dose doesn't really create issues. So when allergies are really bad, I take it morning and night. And the stuff is cheap at Costco (or Amazon).

OTOH, strong coffee is hardly a bad thing, from my perspective at least. Mine is Peet's Major Dickason's this morning.

I took loratadine long enough to get a bit of an immunity. I take certirzine (zyrtec) now. But fall allergies are BRUTAL to me no matter what I take daily. I just have to power through a few weeks of it and it will go away. But until then, I have to pop a benadryl or two whenever the symptoms are just too overwhelming.

Fortunately, I've outgrown the worst of my allergies. I still have some symptoms when the pollen counts get really high (mostly itchy, irritated eyes), but no where near as bad as when I was younger. I used to have a severe reaction to tree pollen (spring hay fever), but it slowly subsided over time. And probably not in small part because the worst offender for me was Elm pollen. Dutch Elm Disease pretty much took care of that.

My GP recommends alternating antihistimines every couple of weeks to avoid building up an immunity. I mostly haven't had to because I don't get hit hard enough any more unless there are a LOT of mold spores around. (This is BC after all. )

I take Allegra and Singular for my allergies. I was having extreme shortness of breath due to allergies doctor thought and Singular saved the day. I take the generic for its super costly otherwise. Allergies made me so sick this summer. I mean i got ear infections, bronchitis all started by allergies clogging me up. I purchased air purifiers for my bedroom and living room and it seems to help. I think it started with the new carpet install at work. I would get dizzy when walking by the construction

I'm having half a cup of the Kona blend I mentioned earlier, even though it's late. And this morning I had a whole cup plus I don't know how many granola bars; I binged while watching Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum.

I love Asian markets. I just wish I understood the writing on the packages!
