Somehow, I doubt that improves either the taste, or the result! I settled for doing faux San Pellegrino after mid-afternoon to cut down on caffeine. But I still want my morning caffeine, thank you!

It really doesn't. I get one caffeinated beverage per day, so I figured I'd supplement it with decaf and set out trying to find one that was good. The short answer, as you suspected, is that there aren't any.

I've been trying to go work my way through my stash before I buy more tea and since I have a few boxes of various decafs, I've been including them in my afternoons. When I'm done with the decafs, though, I won't be buying more.

Somehow, I'm not surprised it isn't successful. It's hard enough to get a decent decaf coffee, but tea is so much more delicate. One solution is Rooibos, if you can find one that fits your tastes. They're naturally non-caffeinated. Or, move to something like my faux San Pellegrino. (A SodaStream, with a modified connector to allow regular CO2 bottles to work with it, plus an addition of salts to match those in San Pellegrino. Or whatever you want to match!)
