It was a cheap model to begin with but it, along with matching stove and fridge, look like they are all ready to die after 12 year of operation. I guess that's not too bad, but I remember my mom's appliances lasting for over 30 years. I think they were still in the house when she sold it.

We're looking to replace all three pieces. No way can we afford the top-of-the line brands you see in the home decorating mags so we're looking at Kenmore Elite series where the quality and price seem to look OK. Seems like two companies make almost every affordable kitchen appliance there is.

WDE (WetDishwasherEverywhere)
The thing is, this IS one of those fancy schmancy dishwashers that you see in the home decorating magazines. I think it cost me close to $1,300 .... and it broke, maybe two months after I bought it. It was repaired on April 23rd (after being out of commission for something like three weeks), and then yesterday the SAME damn problem started up again.

The only saving grace is that this is one of those top load, two drawer dishwashers, and the bottom drawer is still working just fine. So, it's not like I don't have a dishwasher. It's just that I think the whole thing should work more or less continuously for say a few years .....

Just a thought.

Ricky, the luck you've been having lately for some reason I think an upcoming post from you is going to be about how half of your new dishwasher just got repaired and then the other half went caput!

*don't want to jinx you or anything.

I too like the cat decoration better than the computer. I think you should put it back where it was and put the computer somewhere else.

Mooch has to check everything out. The other two kind of ignored all the fuss.

Aw, I'm sorry Zelda. If it's any consolation, the thing is HUGE, and really too big for the room it's in. We need more HOUSE.

Oh, believe me, she isn't being deprived. The shelf above the printer has become her perch, now. I haven't caught her yet with the camera, but I will.

Ricky, is there the equivalent of the "lemon law" for household appliances?

My upstairs desk, from where I'm writing this (because it has the iMac on which I store and work on my photos), is bigger and somewhat less organised (seeing as, aside from the iMac, it also has my scanner and printer and folders and other assorted crap on it). Here is an unrepresentative photo:

Very nice phenomshel and Marc.

I wish I had the acreage y'all seem to have. But since we're showing our desks, here's the mess that my replica roll top is usually in.

This being the Vent and Rant thread, I guess I'm ranting that I don't have the space that I need and that the paper shredder and recycle bin is where my legs are supposed to go.

I could post a picture of my desk, but I would have to clean it first... And I don't feel like doing that. Besides, it'd make you all very jealous anyway... (ok, maybe not phenomshel, except that I do have the room for an ever bigger desk!)

We need more house. I guess I could say I'm buying for when we get a bigger place, but I'd be lying. I got this cause it was a great deal and I fell in love with it.
