She had to find a different supplier who used only vegetable ingredients to make the capsules. (Curiously, the one she found was a kosher foods outfit.)

You might query the CBD supplier you use about what their capsules are made from. Sounds like you have an allergy.

And the suggestions of alternate forms like gummies are good ones.

@Rumpelteazer: Buy the CBD as an oil, not a capsule, and make a batch of brownies. Or anything else you like to eat that can hide any strong tastes that you might not want. (There ARE flavourless CBD oils, but the ones with a distinct "skunk" are more common. And usually a bit less expensive.)

I use CBD to help me sleep. I take a 30 ml bottle of CBD oil, with a known strength of 25.53-27.66mg/g of active CBD (roughly 750 mg of CBD per bottle, varies slightly by batch), and add it to 500 ml of vegetable oil, and then use some of that vegetable oil to make a batch of brownies, 16 brownies to the batch. For me, it works out about right, but YMMV, of course.

Note for those following along -- edibles are much slower to take effect, so be a bit patient. But they stay "active" for longer. So I have my brownie at about 7:30 in the evening, and by the time I go upstairs an hour and a half or so later, it's just starting to smooth things out.

Also note that I'm in Canada, where all of this is completely and totally legal, and where the government sells thoroughly tested product (today there are 32 different oils or capsules of CBD to choose from, plus some number of pre-made edibles) that is of known strength and that is labelled just like the % of alcohol on my single malt is labelled.

I've done some more research and it seems that stomach problems are fairly common. Some people have a sensitive stomach and the oil can irritate it. Others don't absorb the CBD well and as a result get a stomach ache. The advice is to take the CBD 30-60 minutes after a meal instead of half an hour before a meal. I took mine on an empty stomach in the morning, and I never have a big breakfast. I expect, and hope, this will be the cause. I'll switch to taking it after dinner and see what happens.

This morning my stomach is feeling a lot better, not fully recovered but getting there. If all goes well I'll start taking the CBD again on Sunday or Monday. My body is already missing the CBD; I only slept a couple of hours. I'm glad we have call and collect now in the store and we only do it for three hours a day. I'm giving myself a day off from exercising and I'm going to take it easy today.

That was a fun Christmas.

I've been having stomach problems for a week or two now. I thought it was because of the CBD oil, but it turns out it wasn't that (probably). On Thursday morning I woke up with a tight, full feeling in my lower right belly. I thought it was constipation. I took something for that on Friday and the full feeling didn't fully go away, but was a lot less. But it returned on Saturday.

It got worse over the course of the day. During dinner I had to go lie down, the warm room and the smells got to me. When I took my temperature I had a fever. The first thing I did was take a rapid Covid test, which was negative. After that I called the urgent care service (out of hours doctors' office) and got an appointment for 10pm.

It turns out my ongoing stomach issues were cause by acid reflux, so I'm on stronger pills for that again. My large intestines were irritated, I need to eat lots of fibers and fruit for that (hasn't helped yet) and to top it off I have an "impressive" UTI, which causes the full, tense feeling.

I don't have the urge to pee often, or pain when urinating, so I never thought of a UTI. I got a course of antibiotics and I'm allowed to take paracetamol for the pain. During the night it got a lot worse before it got better. At one point it felt like I was being stabbed by a frozen ice pick. And I didn't get much sleep. I stayed in bed most of the day yesterday and felt wiped out. Though a shower and dinner made me feel a bit better and the tense feeling wasn't as bad.

This morning I woke up at 5am and the tenseness was worse, with cramping. Luckily the paracetamol worked well. I'm still tired, but not as tired as yesterday. I'm going to take it easy today and not do much.

I've decided that if that tenseness doesn't improve significantly by Wednesday I'm going to call my own doctors' office. I have to take my last antibiotics on Thursday morning and I don't want to end up at urgent care again during the weekend, especially since I'm going to my sister from Friday until Monday.

So I don’t have an impressive UTI, but appendicitis. I’ll be operated on today to see if they can remove it. Because I’ve had it since Thursday it might be they can’ and I have to go on a course of antibiotics for 6 weeks before they can remove it. I hope they can get it out, otherwise I have to cancel my vacation.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Similar thing happened to hubby in August of 2020, and we had to cancel a week at a private cabin. Lost most of the money too. Hopefully the doctors can remove it without issue. I hope you don't have to do the long time on anti-biopiotics. Been there and done that, spent 8 weeks on cipro and flagil in 1989. Gah.

Hubby's surgery went well, he was home in less than 24 hours.

They were able remove it. I’ve got a drain because there was puncture and an abscess (not sure if that was in the general vicinity or on the appendix). So I need to stay a couple of days, also because I get antibiotics intravenous. Starting to feel human again. Waking up was weird, but they gave me ice lolly and it was the best one I’ve ever tasted!

The surgeon should visit tonight or tomorrow morning and hopefully they’ll tell me more about what happened during surgery.

I'm not sure I know what an ice lolly is, other than a very cold lollipop, but you make it sound scrumptious and I'm glad that they finally figured it out, Rumple.

I'd suspect it's what my kids loved when they were younger which were a frozen non-dairy treat on a stick (popsicle was the popular commercial version).

I used to really love those Creamsicles, as a kid. (orange sherbert coating over vanilla ice cream, basically. I still make a bombé like that.) And those cones--you know the ones, the sugarcone with the vanilla ice cream, with the inside of the cone coated with mik chocolate and so too dipped the top of the cone, with chocolate and nuts? Egad, I loved those. (Still do love the combination. Not the product itself, as now, I'm an adult and my tastes are a bit more refined--altho, not much!)

Those would be "Drumsticks", Ms. Hitch. And they went through a period where they were crap, but have improved since they went back to the old shape and formula.
