Hello! I've been struggling to set calibre up exactly how I want it for a while. I'd like to be able to have a column for the "Kudos" or "Favs" count. I set up a custom column (loopkup name #kudos, header Kudos, integers) and have the below set up for my personal.ini This works great for populating the Kudos column for normal stories, but the column remains empty when updating anthologies. When updating, I've selected the "Update epub always" option, and the EpubMerge column configuration is set to "average value from source books with values."
Notes:
1. When merging books together (that already had the column filled in as individual books) for the first time, the column populates and averages as desired.
2. When running the "Update epub always" on the anthologies, the title pages DO update to reflect the Kudos count.

Any suggestions for getting the column to populate for anthologies?

You're very nearly there. The problem is this:

custom_columns_settings:
 kudos,favs=>#kudos

custom_columns_settings only takes one metadata entry key. I know of no sites that use both kudos and favs, so under [defaults] you should use:

custom_columns_settings:
 favs=>#kudos
 kudos=>#kudos

You could also skip the individual site settings for that column then.

This can potentially cause a problem if you ever anthology stories from AO3 and ffnet in the same book. I think I know a way around that, but it's complicated, so I'm not going to figure it out until it's needed.

FYI, EpubMerge's column settings are not used when FFF is creating/updating an anthology. So good idea, but not this time.

adapter_asianfanficscom doesn't collect comment count because it's loaded by javascript rather than being on the page.

I keep getting an error trying to download a story from SV forums. I'm not sure if I can link it here but the story is 'Mauling Snarks' and the comment I'm getting is "No status line received - the server has closed the connection".

I downloaded another story from SV earlier today with no problem, so I'm not sure if they have changed something in the mean time, or if it's something on my end, but I haven't changed any settings myself.

Any help you can give would be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I just tried downloading something else from SV and it worked fine, so it appears to just be Mauling Snarks that has an issue.

Edit 2: Mauling Snarks finally updated properly... fifth time was the charm. Not sure what the issue was but it appears to be fixed.

That message is a sign of the server closing the connection (surprise!). That's usually a sign of the server experiencing too much traffic or it specifically throttling/blocking you or your IP.

Mauling Snarks is over 300 chapters and over 1 million words. I follow it myself, but I haven't downloaded the whole thing at once since it had 11 chapters.

About the only thing I can suggest (assuming you're already doing epub updates and not downloading the whole thing every time) is to put a larger slow_down_sleep_time setting in personal.ini. Default for xenforo forums is 4.
