Apologies for the potato-quality moon pic from earlier tonight, but the moon is seriously reddish/orangish here

The moon was orange here too. I'm not sure if that was wildfire smoke or because it was low enough in the sky that Rayleigh scattering was in effect.

I love how the idiots who maintain the sidewalks around here think about pedestrians so much that they tore up enough of the sidewalks where I essentially have to run across a freaking state highway in between traffic lights to get to work.
Freaking geniuses. |

While I've been housebound and not have to deal with them, in my town quite a few local restaurants blocked up the sidewalk with these huge wooden patios that require going on the roadway to get around them.
I quietly wonder to myself how many of these restaurants "couldn't afford" a ramp for accessibility... |

Mentally preparing for vacuuming and mopping the living room floor. I don't mind the chores so much. But my parents constantly commenting on how I go about it is frustrating to say the least.
But my father is going over to my sister's place to help with some DIY. So it's only my mother I have to deal with. Predicted outcome: The cats hate me for the rest of the day. My mother will be passive aggressively not say anything to me for most of the afternoon because I got snappy with her for giving me suggestions (orders) on how I need to mop the floor. And I'm annoyed and sweaty and retreat to my rooms to ignore everyone for a while. |

I realize that you have a unique situation--you still reside with your family. That's always awkward, and you work for/with them, too, yes? All that enforced togetherness is brutal. Any chance of working something a bit more organized out? Like a chores calendar and an agreement that nobody tells anyone how to do them? Quote:

Sorry that you have to put up with this. I take it that moving out on your own is out of the question? Hitch |

It's mostly my mother. My father tries to be helpful with household chores, but gets in way (I only move the couches once a year to mop under them, not every time and I can mop around table legs, no need to move those). My mother's commenting gets to me (and my father) mostly because of the tone she uses, she thinks she's being helpful but the way she says it sound more as "you're doing it wrong". It's also the reason I refuse to iron clothes, that would end up in a war I'm afraid, and I let my mother fold my father and her clothes after she commented on my folding skills too many times. According to my sister my parents appreciate what I do since my mother's stenosis diagnosis and operation. But they never tell me that. They never show their appreciation and that's hard sometimes, especially since they both have no problems telling me all the things I'm doing wrong. I make sure I get some alone time, after dinner and on Sunday morning are times I retreat to my room and do things I like. Monday afternoon is also me-time if I don't have to run errands. |

I live with my family ( Mom and brother). Thankfully they are pretty non-critical of how I do things. Just grateful to have them done.
I do get to escape to work 5 days a week, 8.5 hrs a day. Whenever they're looking for volunteers to leave early and take PTO the day before a holiday, I always stay and tell my coworkers not to make me go spend more time with my family. |

Sigh!!!
We have a division of labor around here -- it's the only way we can even hope to manage. Washing the sheets and changing our bed are among my jobs. Now, I'm also a guy, which means I really can't be bothered trying to neatly fold a fitted sheet. Seriously, who has that kind of patience?! But last week I gave it a try. I washed a couple of sets of sheets and on the last pair I put some effort into folding the fitted sheet neatly, flat, and with squared off corners. Tonight, I changed our bed. I trudged down two flights of stairs to the laundry corner in the basement and picked up a couple of sheets. One slightly rumpled (perhaps even balled up) sheet was obviously a fitted sheet and I picked up a neatly squared off one. (Don't get ahead of me, now!) I trudged up the two flights of stairs to the bedroom and wrestled the fitted sheet onto the mattress. Then I spread out the "flat" sheet ... and discovered that it was the neatly folded fitted sheet from last week. Rats! Down two flights of stairs again, got a real flat sheet this time, and back up two flights of stairs. I'm never going to worry about neatly folding a fitted sheet again in my life! |

Shouldn't the moral of that story have been "bring all the sheets up at once and store them closer to the bed?"

Yes, I store clean sheets in the bedroom in the dresser so they're right there.
