What features does PRS have and can we pick and choose which ones we want to install?

Does it have the hold the enter to turn the power off hack?

You can choose to have the center of the joypad shut down while in the menu view and/or while reading a book (via key bindings).

The User Guide will show you the features.

I've added the following to the feature request, but just wanted some feedback. Probably not all check the project page. Just want to know what you think about the following:

- I had my reader shut down several times recently (just by itself). When I started reading at my last bookmark, I took the bookmark off and read a couple of pages. So the latest bookmark was gone and I had to scroll through the pages to find where I left off. So currently, I just leave my bookmarks instead of taking them out when I start reading again. Right now, there's no convenient way to delete all bookmarks except for the last one in the book menu.

- I use the pictures menu more often than the games. So I would rather have a main menu having the pictures instead of the games. Probably there is a way of putting favorites into the main menu like on cameras or mp3 players.

The primary differences are the file/folder navigation, the games, the dynamic key-mapping & a screenshot capability. It moves a number of PRS options onto options that can be set dynamically, but I think those 4 are the main ones.

Looks like I will definately have to give PRS+ a go.

But before I do so, will it cause me to lose any content, any bookmarks and my place in any ongoing books?

I've modded my reader 3 times adding a little something each time and I haven't lost any book, collections or bookmarks.

Your mileage may vary.

Normally even bricking it does not touch content, but... nobody can guarantee that you won't be the first who'll experience that. To feel "even safer" just backup entire content of your internal memory (say, just copy&past it to your PC). Bookmarks are stored in one of the xml files there.

Kartu,

At the end of the installation guide you say to put your fonts in the FONT directory and reflash. That directory, as you know, is for system, lrf, lrx and I think any file without embedded fonts that is read by the reader. In order to work, these fonts have to precisely named and formatted. I placed a comment that helps explain this after the guide. I also provide the factory default Dutch font and the free fontin font already named and tested for use by all.

I'll add it into the guide, thanks.

Regarding the fonts, I'd just slap dutch glyphs (provided, you've used it "the right" unicode way) into default fonts, if you provide them. They don't eat much space and that'd make dutch users happy.

The font that the PRS505 uses as the factory default font for rendering to the reader is Dutch801 Rm BT this is the name of the font not the language. I included it in the download so folks could return to the way it was originally in case they didn't like the fontin font (or whatever font they tried).

Ah, I see. I thought you were missing some glyphs used in Dutch language in defaults fonts...

Does PRS+ have the ePub font hack as in this thread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66102? If not, can they be combined?

Yes, as mentioned on the first page of the project.
Path to style css is a bit different though. /database/system/PRSPlus/epub/style.css (right, style.css, not userStyle.css)

I have found an issue with PRS+. When I have it installed, my 505 cannot connect to Reader Library.

Were you able to connect to it not long before installing PRS+?
The easiest way to disable PRS+ is renaming /database/system/PRSPlus/PRSPlus.js file to anything else. (then connect to PC - disconnect, or reboot)

I think somebody else has already reported that problem, but then found out it wasn't related to PRS+
