When a Li-ion battery reaches a state of being completely depleted and beyond, it might not be able to recharge anymore. It might also lose a lot of it's capacity. It works opposite from Cd batteries in that Cd batteries NEED to be depleted before recharge. Li ion batteries lose charge (memory effect, but then for emptying batteries)when they get empty. Likewise Li ion batteries seem to wear out slightly if you fully charge them, and then let the battery depletes itself over time. It seems best to keep Li ion batteries stored with 2/3rd of charge, and charge them twice to trice a year, depending on the type of battery. Larger batteries (eg laptop) need less recharging than smaller ones (eg cell phone), for they remain charged for a longer time. |

If Sony come out with a device with a 7" or 8" display at a 505 price, then I'd be unhappy. |

So, if you think that the new capabilities, such as Search, Dictionary Lookup, Notes, Hand-scribbled notes, Highlighting, touchscreen, a much faster CPU (which makes a whole lot of difference on PDFs and EPUBs), more memory, fast paging - if when spending a couple of hundred dollars on an ebook reader those new features are not worth fifty bucks to you, then you are probably right. But in my opinion the PRS-600 looks like a major upgrade over both the 505 and the 700, and the price point of $330 (the cover is extra $30) seems like the absolute best deal out of all the reader currently on offer. So, I guess, I respectfully disagree. |

The 505 is still looking like a perfectly good choice and probably will be until the generation after comes out. |

I selected the Sony because it did NOT have wi-fi and therefor was lighter weight. I have ALS (Lou Gregis disease) and cannot lift anything heavy.

Still in a holding pattern waiting for Sony to make their announcements. As was previously posted, for the last 2 years, Sony has announced their new products on October 1, so we may have a bit of a wait yet.
