This seems to only affect the Touch and (at least in my experience) happens when you sync. It has been reported to Kobo devs via the beta program. I'm going to ensure they see your post.

Thank you.I hope they will fix it.

P.S. There are other bugs: onboard storage doesn't show the usage(it shows my whole device is empty, when it's not) | remembering wi-fi networks is not working correctly, it forgets all the time... factory/soft reset doesn't seem to fix things.

The answer to that is: it depends.

When Kobo release firmware, they do not release it to all devices at the same time. They usually do this over about a month. Who gets it depends on the affiliate for their account and the location. This means that some people in Canada get it very quickly, but it can take a month to reach Australia. There are also some affiliates that don't take all updates. Rakuten in Japan is an example.

What that means is that if you sync your device to the Kobo server, it will check if there is an update. If there is, then the update will be downloaded and installed. If there isn't, the sync will continue. So, the latest firmware for your device is the firmware that was on the device after your last sync.

Having said that, the latest firmware released is 4.3.8966. It is being released for all devices except the Mini. I believe it is being released quickly to everyone, so it should available to everyone within a week of release. If you sync now, you will probably get it.

And as I have kept saying ever since the new home screen turned up, whether you get it is has nothing to do with the firmware version* or the device. Kobo are randomly selecting people to test it.

* Beyond the hopefully obvious fact that there is a minimum firmware version that can show the new home screen.

The major change seems to be the home screen (for higher res devices), series sort in Library view, brightness level now changes by 1%, etc.

The usual very uninformative Kobo release notes: Your ereader software has been upgraded. DUH!!

Serious request (I believe I've asked this previously, several years ago) If you post these download links for firmware upgrades PLEASE, PLEASE include the instructions (or link to the instructions) on how to manually install them!

They should be a sticky post IMHO. Currently my Kobo H2O says it has firmware version 4.3.8945, and sync on the Kobo desktop does not say there's an firmware update available, let alone install the 4.3.8842 update.
