Yeah the toc viewer is not "live". It has to be refreshed if you make changes to the book. I suppose I can have it update itself after some big operations, like renames and so on. It's a little slow to parse and build the toc for large books, but I guess I can have it only update if it is actually visible.

![]() Edit Book is official... I've just seen the new Font Name warning and I've quickly tested the CSS style attribute test. (The cryptic error text we get is a small drawback, but as you explained, it's out of your reach. In addition, even if possible, spending but little effort in fixing it is probably pointless nevertheless). Again ![]() And now a small suggestion about ToC Viewer. I find really useful and user-friendly the Red/Green icons about "unreachable/reachable" entries you already have in the ToC Editor tool. Could you port it to ToC Viewer? In this way from the Book Editor you could see if you already have troubles in your ToC without needing to open another different tool. And another suggestion for ToC Editor (and Viewer if possible). By default nested items are collapsed, so you don't know if you have trouble somewhere in your ToC till you expand it completely. Could you create another icon for this situation? I mean:

I think I've found another possible small bug.
HTML comments inside <style> tags are not rendered as comments (I mean in gray italics). Look at "Comment not being rendered.jpg" in line 11 and compare it to "Comment being rendered.jpg" where I've moved "<!--" and "-->" outside the <style> tag. EDITED --- I have to perform more tests but as some of you have discussed about it... Find result focus on editor seems quite erratic. Sometimes the editor shows the match in the upper part of the screen, sometimes in the middle or in the bottom, and I've even got matches outside the displayed area... When I get a good example I'll post it. Last edited by arspr; 12-13-2013 at 06:10 PM. |

Kovid, I like the layout. When I change the code, I see the effect or lack of it in the preview window. Helps keep the code straight.

Just wanted to pop in and say nice work! I haven't had time to give it a really good workout yet, but it seems infinitely usable already. The speed with which this came to light is nothing short of amazing to me (even taking into consideration the pieces of calibre that could be imported and/or re-purposed). Cheers!

@arspr: An HTML comment inside a style tag is not a comment, the only use of html comments inside style tags is for very old browsers that dont support style tags. If you want to comment something inside a style tag, use css comments.
@DiapDealer: Yeah I am rather amazed at how quick it was to develop as well. When I started, I had no idea it would reach this stage so quickly. |

@arspr: Checking if the toc links are valid is a very expensive operation, it requires the parsing of all the html files the toc refers to, which is potentially the entire book. AS such, it is not suitable for the toc viewer.

![]() Didn't follow the thread because I assumed it was still largely on the drawing table and thought any real development would get its own thread for attention sake. So this surprise couldn't have been any bigger. Very nice Christmas gift ![]() |

Kovid, well done.
I like how fast the editor especially works with huge files and the additional help file verry much too. Thanks for this nice Christmas gift. ![]() |

Epubcheck checks whether all links are valid, so there's no reason to slow down the program.
