I've owned at least one each of K2, K3, KDXG, K4 Silver, K Touch, and PW1. I never had any issues with any of those models except the PW1.

You could go in as Batman. The cape would be perfect. No one would think you a terrorist, everyone trusts Batman. If you go at night you could check it out pretty good in your car. It might be worth a go, you might get a perfect one.

Good idea about going at night since it now gets dark by 8:00pm and BB stays open until 9:00pm.

I've had that same conversation about the frustration that is the MYK page, the only difference was my reply also suggested that I should send my comments to the feedback email address, but to rest assured they would pass it on to the relevant people. I did also send it to the feedback address and they said they'd pass it onto the development team. But then again, I'm sure that's what they said a year ago when I complained about them not including page turn buttons on the PW! So I'm not holding my breath that they'll listen

I posted my assessment earlier in the thread. Basically I had one with issues, pinholes and a little dark speck, but no color blotches. My second one that I picked up at Best Buy and is fine. No colors blobs. They do seem better color hue wise this year, but xendula on here has color blobs on hers, so while the color blob issue is better, it's still obviously not perfect.

Plus other users have reported the pinholes too, on here and kindleboards. If you have a Best Buy near you it might be worth it to pop in and see what you think. A lot of the Best Buys have them in stock now.

Hi Dennis, I'm still trying to talk myself into trying a PW2. So far I haven't bought one, but maybe soon. I'm concerned about the pinholes several people have encountered.

Got mine yesterday and had two pin holes almost exactly 2 inches apart on the screen. Boxed it up and sending it back to Amazon! They are sending a new on on Friday. After all of the fiasco with the first paperwhite I am not surprised.

Does Amazon produce the screens themselves or is it handled by eInk? Is there much Amazon (or Kobo... or B&N... or Sony...) can do if the primary supplier of eink screens has some quality control issues?

My screen has a very tiny pinhole in one corner. With a black background (e.g. the Kindle hillside that appears during boot-up), it stands out very clearly, but it doesn't interfere with regular reading since it sits in the margin at the bottom of the page. I'm going to play with it for another week. If I find that I can't keep my eyes off of the speck, I'll exchange it--but given that I have to actively look for it (white speck on creamy white background), it really isn't a big deal.

My largest one sits at the bottom towards the right. The reason why I can see it and find it distracting, is that this one sits right on top of the black line that goes across the bottom, and when I have the PW in front of my eyes in bed, it shines through brightly. The other ones I cannot always see.

I've noticed that everyone reporting issues for the PW 2012 also have issues with the PW 2013.

Those, who had real defects, got new PW's from Amazon and one even got an extra $ 50.

Those of us, who had no defects last year, have no defects this year.

Its an amazing coincidence.

I think I see a couple of pinholes on black pages, I notice if I switch to a normal lighted white screen then I can still see them as a black dot but very small.
I'm more bothered by shadows on the bottom similar to stage lighting. Does anybody else see that?

I don't think we'll ever have 100% uniform lighting with the current technology. The screen is lighted across its surface by a bunch of teeny tiny led lights, it really is almost like stage lighting. I can see very subtle shadows at the bottom of the screen, but I'd still say that the lighting is 99% even. Mind you, I'm upgrading from a K3, so the lighting looks a million times better than what I could get with my lighted cover.
