The slush pile is another word for Kindle freebies. Each day I go wading through all the self published stuff trying to find quality stories to share here. It's more junk than anything. I believe slush pile is a publisher's term for a pile of submitted manuscripts. So it works in both cases.

That is nice of you (but hopefully not too relaxing, while driving!). And it was something of a nightmare, especially when you discover your site is dead about 1AM. I do have auto-backups running nightly (which go to dropbox and my computer automatically).

That would explain it. I went looking on the B&N site earlier to see if they were having some kind of sale since 50% since to be their big sale mark down and didn't see this.

I sent you three PMs yes it's alot of info but I want to make sure you got them all.

The two feeds I use most of the slush pile are FreeReadFeed and DailyFreeBooks.com. I think they do a good job at weeding out the smut. Remember when I say smut I am not talking about the stuff posted on here. I am talking about stuff that is triple x rated. Yuck!
I do read Erotic Romance and will defend it any day.

I tried to pre-order the Jill Shalvis Lucky Harbor book and got an error message that said to try again, but it does show as processing on the orders page. I've no idea if the order really went through or not...

Okay, I just checked my bank and it does show as pending transaction. So I guess it did. Glad I didn't try again .

I ordered that one too. 50% off Hachette titles is usually as good as it's going to get in terms of discounts with our without coupons.

BTW, I thought Amazon did not actually charge for the pre-orders until they are delivered. I don't have any pending charges for the 2 I ordered today.
