[GUI Plugin] Overdrive Link

Pardon a procedure question from a happy long time Overdrive user:
As I recall when I first installed the Overdrive plugin, I had a choice as to which toolbars I wished to add it to. I selected the just the "Main Toolbar".
Now when I have my device connected the operative toolbar is the "Toolbar when a device is connected" and I have tried to modify the toolbar settings to add Overdrive but that option (icon) is not available...???
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Overdrive plugin and have not seen any choices that allow me to add Overdrive to the second toolbar.
Can anyone help?

The code contains

action.py:    dont_add_to = frozenset(['menubar-device', 'toolbar-device', 'context-menu-device'])

so I think it is working as designed; no ability to add it to the "Toolbar when a device is connected"

What you could do is to add it to the "The optional second toolbar" which is displayed at the bottom of the screen (and is the same whether or not a device is connected).

I didn't think that anyone would want to add this plugin to the device toolbar. I will remove the restriction in the next release of the plugin.

Sometimes when I'm doing 'book work' I have the device connected to empty, or fill or charge it. Then if I decide to do an Overdrive search, I then have to disconnect the device.
Nice to have the toolbars similar.

Absolutely nothing

I just prefer to have it on the main tool bar.

Your workaround works well. I've used it that way in the past myself. I just don't like losing more of my screen space. The main computer I use is a small netbook. That extra at the bottom of the screen just takes too much away from the book listings for me.

Another workaround is to right-click on a book. That will bring up a listing that shows OD.

Support searching for audiobooks at Scribd.

Display the search results summary before the detailed job completion log when "View log" is selected in the search completion popup. (The "View log" dialog box can be resized to be more readable than the small search completion pop-up.)

To reduce the size of the search completion popup, the search result summary will no longer be shown by default. The "Show details" button can be used to display the summary. The previous behavior can be restored by selecting "Show result summary in popup" in the plugin configuration.

Shorten the label on the search completion pop-up button from "Yes (without discovered)" to "Non-* only".

Fix search by keyword results being improperly filtered for Scribd and Oyster.

Allow the plugin to be added to the device toolbar.

i am not sure if this is an issue with the plug in or with the calibre display. I am not always seeing the library link in the list of Ids shown in book details pane of calibre. I think maybe calibre shows only some maximum number, or length?

I am just now trying the rather drastic step of deleting all the found links for FLP & letting them get re-found.... but that has not completely fixed the problem, after also restarting calibre:
this book for instance - (vonnegut: breakfast of champions ) has all these IDs:
amazon_uk:B003XRELEI, odid:B003XRELEI@ak/uk-unlimited&cdd1b63c-e757-4f49-91e2-35f2388afae7@freelibrary.lib.overdrive.com, odrid:4463658b-6f32-4ce1-b701-dfb731f537f2@gloucestershire.lib.overdrive.com
but all I see in the calibre details pane is:
IDs: Amazon.uk, AK+
Path: Click to open
format: EPUB
read: y
Languages: English
pages: 172
why am I not seeing the other library links?

now if I delete all IDs for that book & let the plug in search again, I will ( correctly) see just the FLP link, but now I've lost that fact that it was also at Gloucestershire library & will have to rerun that search - most annoying.

more tesing - this time with just one book. I clear existing Ids, restart calibre - search two libraries:
the plug in finds 2 IDS corerctly,& puts this in the IDs field>

but all I get in book details is a single link:

so I cant seem to get calibre to show the FLP link

I am baffled :-(

it IS looking like a bug in how calibre displays the data though, not a bug in how the plugin finds & records it ?

That is by design. Only one link per identifier can be shown in the book details panel. Click on the plugin's icon on toolbar to show all of the links for the currently selected book.

From the plugin documentation:

Only one link per book will be shown under Ids: in the book's details, corresponding to the highest priority library (first in configuration) from which the book is available. A plus sign after the library name indicates that the book is also available from other lending libraries (or in other editions) and the additional links can be found in the plugin menu. A '#' before the library name indicates that the link is to an audiobook.

Another question from another long time Overdrive user.

I am getting the message:

Links no longer found (will be kept) for King of Foxes by Feist, Raymond E.: @SJRLC

Am I right to understand that to mean that the SJRLC library no longer offers that book ?

Yet when I click on the link to that "Borrow book from SJRLC", the book is still available.

I've had more books with this result.

Another example:

Links no longer found (will be kept) for Creatures of the Night by Gaiman, Neil: @FLP.FR
Again, FLP.FR is also still offering the book

I never delete those. All it means is the plugin didn't find it in the OverDrive search results. I am trying to remember if that will pop up when you delete a configured OverDrive website from the configuration...

I usually see this by recommendable books, though.
