Unfortunately, the strap has to remain otherwise there's no way of differentiating between sleep and power off. Moving the strap won't help either; no matter where it's placed it will obscure something important on some covers.

I actually preferred the old cover display where the image wasn't full screen.

It will be nice if we can set hyphenation on/off.

It's all just smokeware

They will SHOW(probably not sell) the Kobotouch at IFA.

If,at any time, they put that device on the EU-market, it'll be bad. It will be lacking a body of text search mode.

They just lie, lie...

Forget Kobo, there are new Sony readers up and coming.

Even a small chance of a new Kindle soon.

Those Kobo devs have been stringing me along since efing may(months). I'm beginning to not like them so much.

My new future firmware request: GET IT TOGETHER!! Kobo devs.

I can't really see why. You have to slide the switch in any case. Sure if it's asleep and you want to shut it off but there could be just a dot or something unobtrusive to indicate sleep or off mode. How about a toggle so that those who want to can turn the stripe off.

I just want to see the covers in all their glory (such as they are).

Powered off seems like it would be a rare event--the reader would almost always be in sleep mode when the cover is showing, so how about only indicate when it's off? I like how the nook shows a blank screen when powered off, so it's clear the device is really off. If the cover is showing you know the device is on and asleep.

I'd just like to see a clean cover either way and that's my feature request (a toggle would be fine and satisfy everyone, I would think).

But sometime in July I did feel the need to make it clear that a search function is, in my opinion, the most important upgrade. I wasn't the first.

Never mind WHEN whoever brought it up first. It ain't relevant to this thread.

The page navigation slider is VERY imprecise (and gets more imprecise as the page count goes up). Adding a text box to enter specific page numbers would be an excellent idea (especially if the storage error hasn't actually been fixed - won't know 'til a couple of weeks of being tested out in the field by thousands of people).

We have officially announced a german in-store date at the beginning of Oct in this press release today.

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...128876153.html

For those who want details, we have been working (quite literally) around the clock and have already delivered the necessary firmware etc to the factory and the units are being assembled. This is for real finally!

Oh great! Looks like the Kobo won't be available in Europe till October.

According to this:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/31/h...r-wi-fi-video/
and this:
http://www.the-digital-reader.com/20...until-october/

Kobo and Sony will be out at the same time!

That's great because now Kobo devs have a couple of months to meet or beat some cool, albeit, partially rumoured features of the Sony ereader.

Here's some of what I'd like implemented (not in any order of importance):

- Library lending per WiFi
- MS Word support (rumoured, but the older Sony's have it)
- WiFi download of all supported formats, from any website
- more than a dozen dictionaries
- dictionary- and web-lookup of any word in any text
- access to googleBooks
- two finger pinch and zoom
- display rotation
- bookmarking
- highlighting
- annotations (handwritten and with the virtual keyboard)
- searching all annotations in the whole library
- hyperlinks
- full flexibility sorting of the users library
- user-defined collections
- and, of course, searching within the book

I know two months is a long time, but don't bite off more than you can chew. After all the new Sony won't just be available at the same time, but also, apparently, at the same PRICE!

+1. I just ran into this issue today. Or even if the +/- icons changed the number without turning the page.

Sony does not have direct MS Word support, what they have is RTF support and the eBook Reader on the PC can run a doc file through a copy of Microsoft word that must be present on the PC to convert DOC to RTF.

OOps! To late, I just pre-ordered the Sony T1 at Sony.de and it cost me the exact same €149 incl. tax & shipping.

Ah, darnit! That makes the T1 completely worthless. Now I'm gonna have to figure out how to cancel that order(nah).

But really, if Kobo can implement just some of those requests (especially the last one about searching) and they seriously reconsider the price, well then it just might be a suitable auxiliary device for emergencies.

Maybe €100 tops.
