I just replaced my washer this week. No idea how old the broken one was. I know what store I bought it from but their records only go back to 2000 and they didn't have record of my washer or my dryer.
At the price of the repair, I was halfway to a nice new washer. My goodness, they've come a long way in 20+ years. I got a quality new one that should keep me going for another 20 years. |

Since Wednesday we're allowed to receive customers again. So I'm glad not to have to book appointments all day and have constant discussions with people coming to the store without an appointment.
Still we're left with the discussions about face masks. Most people have gotten used to it. But several times a day someone tries to use the excuse that they've been vaccinated. Well, for one, you can just say that. Two, my parent just had their first shot, I'm not vaccinated at all. And third, it's a requirement from the government. I wear one most of the time when I'm in the store, except when I want to eat or drink, a customer can put one on for a couple of minutes. There's still the discussion about customers parking bikes in front of the store. This is not something we like people doing even before Covid (years ago a bike fell through the window) but with limited number of customers allowed in the store we need to keep the sidewalk free for customers who have to wait. And last, people getting upset when we ask them to wait outside when there are already two customers inside (maximum number of customers allowed). It's not like you have to wait any longer when you're outside. And if it rains and you haven't got an umbrella you can borrow one from us. Related is people coming in in groups of two or more. Most assume that since they form a bubble it's allowed, but it isn't. Mind you, it has been a less stressful week now we don't have to deal with non-appointment customers. Especially on Saturday I felt like a whining b***h at closing time for asking/demanding customers to leave the store and book an appointment first. And the excuses they had for not making an appointment! A selection: * I didn't know * You're doormat says "welcome" * I live around the corner/[further away] * I only have a question * I only need [something small] * No other store I've visited minded that I didn't book an appointment * (store owners/employees) we let customers in without an appointment note: if someone needed something for an emergency (blown fuse, have a dangerous situation, etc) |

Closing time, I never have an issue telling people to leave. Come back tomorrow, we open at 9am.
Not my problem you waited until 5 minutes before we close to come in. People don't understand it's another 15-30 minutes after a place gets the last customer out before the workers can go home when you work in a store. |

I used the wrong words. It was more that after telling people all day that they weren't allowed in the store without an appointment I felt like a whiny b***h at the end of the day. It was mentally draining, so I'm glad we don't have to do that anymore.
Luckily our store is small and closing time isn't much of a problem. If someone comes in when we're about to close (usually after the officially listed closing time) we help him, but before we do we close the door, both as a hint to the customer (be quick) and so no other customers can come in. A bigger problem is the customers who know we live over the shop and ring the doorbell when we're closed for non-emergency shopping because they think we should do that because we live over the store. I worked at the cash registers at Ikea for two summers. We were the one department that closed last. There were people trying to enter the store through the exit when the entrance was already closed because they wanted to shop. Once there was a man who we had to call security for because he threw a fit because we wouldn't let him in; he wanted to buy a kitchen (which isn't a simple purchase). |

As some of you know if we have a very difficult customer and he buys something that doesn't have a price tag on it (many products in our store, my dad and I know the prices of the most sold items) there is a change we add a bit of a difficult-customer-surcharge.
I might have done that with several customers over the past week who wanted to get into a discussion over face masks. |

I gather I wrote something not edible, but what is it? Can you explain please.

It's not a known brand, it's from Lidl, a supermaket store from Germany, not sure if there are Lidl stores in the US. I have a lot of their small kitchen appliances, they are good quality and affordable. This one cost me 150 € and I chose this one because of the big bowl with handles and I could buy accessories, like the pasta one or the grating one, the equivalent ones form kenwood or Electrolux cost over 350 € and the accessories also cost double what I paid for. |
