I always walk facing the traffic so I can see the cars and stop or move back if needed, but I see a lot of people that don't do this, there is a stretch of road that is narrow and barely fits 2 cars, and sometimes there are people in the wrong side.

Since the lockdown ended a couple weeks ago I find it much more noisy than before, the first hour is quiet because there are not a lot of people out but after that it becomes noisy because the traffic increases, and although I chose the quiet streets I have to cross some busy ones and walk near several schools and after 8 o’clock the kids are getting dropped of.

I’ve been looking and it seems that most buds with noise cancelling are for over the ear or wireless in ear, it looks that it will not be easy to find in ear with cable, any recommendation will be appreciated.

It amazes me how many people apparently never learned that when there is no sidewalk, you are supposed to walk facing traffic. I have seen a woman pushing a baby in a stroller while talking on her phone with her back to traffic.

Walking facing traffic is especially important now that there are so many electric cars on the road as they make little to no noise to alert pedestrians they are coming.

So I bought a pack of 10 Energizer AAA batteries. One of them is dented along the side, and the battery doesn't work. I paid almost $1 a piece for this pack of 10.

Got on their web site, and did the "contact us" thing, including 1 picture (all that was permitted) of the flawed battery.

Got an email from them this morning...they want 5 separate pictures, the battery, the packaging, the UPC, the sales slip, and the imprinted date on the battery itself. They also want my address, which is understandable, and a phone number, which I won't give.

Also, I'm not to use the other 9 batteries in the pack, which is too late as we are already using some of them.

I answered the email and ask if they also wanted the blood of my first born.

That does seem like overkill for such a small item! If you do all that, they are going to spend more paying some employee to handle this than it would cost them to just send you one replacement battery.

My favorite is people walking down the middle of the road.

One of my favorites are the people who decide that crossing a street by walking diagonally across the intersection is a good idea. I have seen some intersections with diagonal walk signals but those have been few and far between.

I mean, at times on my way to work there might be times where I could get away with that, but that's totally a "hold my beer" type thing.

And I've never seen someone do that.

Another dangerous pedestrian behavior is crossing the street maybe 2-3 car lengths away from the intersection.

A few times when driving I've checked that the crosswalk is clear, made a right turn onto a street, only to have to stop short because of some idiot jaywalking. Couldn't see the person before I turned. Once this happened at night - they were lucky I saw them after I turned the corner.

I can understand walking across in the middle of a long block well away from the intersection - on some low-traffic streets this may actually be safer as it keeps you away from turning vehicles.

But a pedestrian crossing just far enough into the street to be out of sight of vehicles turning into the street is really risky.

And then there are pedestrians who stand at the corner, facing diagonally, so you can't tell which direction they intend to walk as soon as the light turns.

I've heard there are some places where busy intersections actually have a point in the light cycle where all vehicle traffic stops and pedestrians can cross in any direction. This sounds like a great idea to me.

Seriously, that's ridiculous. I could maybe see them wanting the actual battery sent back (for QA and safety checks or something) but if they're not asking that, they are seriously wasting their time and their customer's! Forget a replacement battery, they could just email a coupon. I've had that done for me often. Who the frack keeps battery packaging and receipts, anyway????

Deskisamess, in addition to telling them you're not about to waste so much of your time for them, you should also comment about how you'll be recommending Duracell and Rayovac to all us folks who you influence! (I mean, heck I'm influenced by your post already!)

Normally, we buy large packs of batteries at a warehouse club, because we can get Duracell AAA's for about $.55 cents each with a coupon. I picked up the Energizers because we needed them, and I didn't want to make a special trip.

I'm sure liability is the heart of their request, but wowzers, so much overkill. Hubby already tossed the damaged battery. We're not trashing the rest, the package itself wasn't damaged, just one lone battery.

How is it that the appliances manufacturers can make their products so they brake just after the warranty expires.

This weekend I was making bread and the hook from my standing mixer broke, had to finish the bread by hand.

I went in search of the invoice for the warranty and it had just expired 2 weeks before. Then went online to buy a replacement and they are out of stock, since apparently every accessory for that machine is out of stock it doesn’t look this is only temporary. Hope my brother can fix it by welding the two pieces. I don’t want so replace a perfectly good machine only because of the hook.

Did you pick them up at a local store? I'd also complain to the manager.
