Almost settled in at my friends' place. In an hour or so my parents will bring the rest of my stuff.

I'm now trying to decide what to get at the new Mexican take-out place around the corner and which film or series I want to watch tonight (original The Killing or Memoirs of a Geisha).

LOL, I've been reading all day and need a short break before continuing. Considering I haven't yet read Memoirs of a Geisha I'll see if I like The Killing.

Acer. Not ASUS. I thought it was ASUS when I first looked at it, but when I went back to buy, it turned into Acer. That's OK. I've got everything copied in or installed, and so far, so good. I'm having quite a time trying to figure out how to navigate Win7, and it's about a 50/50 split right now between me and the OS. I shall endeavor to persevere...

Thinking of buying my part-time dog one of those Kong chew toys, since yesterday she has already skinned and halved two of her tennisballs by chewing on them. Luckily she still got a couple left, plus two ropes which she also likes to chew on.

The only laptop that didn't really make it two years. It still goes....sort of!

So far loving my pink diamonds Sony.

Here's hoping it lasts like a Toshiba.

Does anyone know how good HP's notebooks are?
My mother is saving up for a notebook and I already told her not to get an Acer and I now see that the store she's most likely to buy her notebook from has a lot of HP notebooks.

The printers that we have HP seem to be very good. The best lasting laptop computer I know about = Toshiba. Some of the old ones that have been replaced are still going strong long after the replacements have died.

I'm with you on Toshiba, plus their customer service is very good (at least in The Netherlands).

Unfortunately, my mother will probably be mostly looking at the price of the notebook and not at the brand or specs. The only reason she won't be buying an Acer is because I threatened not to help her with any problems if she gets an Acer

(not true, but I've helped a neighbour with an Acer and I'd rather not want to repeat that experience).

To me - 'Right Now' means exactly that. There can only be one correct answer, and that is replying to this thread. (Unless you are capable of total multi-tasking, using different hands to do different things, and your eyes concentrating on separate tasks. I don't know anyone who can do this).
