I don't even want to begin to think what my parents had to endure...
I could wear a hair shirt and crawl on my knees through gravel for the next three lifetimes and it wouldn't make up for what I must have put those poor people through.

Me... I wouldn't change a thing.

A few years ago, I came across one of the ferals totally rat-arsed pissing against the wall outside my flat in Camden.

My first thought was to grab him by the scruff of the neck and sort him out. I then remembered an episode from 3 decades ago when I was in the same exact location spilling my kebab after a session following an ugly split.

I left the feral to commune with his piss praying that it won't be my son I find in the same place 10 years hence. As for my parents, they continue to suffer my tresspasses as I enjoy my eternal teenage rebellion.

Waiting for Windows to finish installing the latest series of patches. Sigh. This is about the tenth sequential install and reboot sequence today. Sigh....

Right now I'm transferring stuff to the iMac my hubby bought me for my birthday, from my PC.

This will be my first Mac. I'm a nervous, but very happy girl!

Happy Birthday, Nyssa.

I don't have anything Apple, but my son is all Apple. Let us know how you like it.

SS, mine is a VAIO also, just not so "purdy" as yours. I love the pink.

orlok - I have this thing about whenever someone says, "my new...." and it is about a new toy. I have this overwhelming urge to buy something, anything. I just love that feeling when you first get to play and set up a new gadget. I hope you enjoy it.

Cheers dreams! They came in grey or white also, but the pink was the only one they had new in the box. I really wanted the light up keypad with numeric. And now I is happy.

New bloody computer The monitor cable didn't seem to work - wrong hole wrong cable. Finally success. Waiting for all that start up stuff Windows wants to do. Mapped the network drive and got straight in. yippee!

Now the hard part - get the boss to tidy up her emails and her files so I can transfer every thing over... Wondering how to threaten.

I think I should make a folder and say if you want to keep it put it there......or else it doesn't come.

Just set up the new access point for in the livingroom. One of the drawback of living in an old house is that some walls are 2-3 foot thick so wifi doesn't work too great, even with an extender on the same floor. Earlier this year I bought an access point for my rooms and because of the success my father got one for in the livingroom.

My mother is happy now; she's got full bars for the wifi connection, where before it often switched back to 3G. And my father's happy because I set it all up. I'm happy because by setting it up myself I saved time and listening to a lot of grumbling and cursing by my father.

Just finished installing another wooden toilet seat (looks mahogany) in the throne room. Wooden toilet seats look fantastic, but they never last any time at all. What can I say? The wife likes 'em!

That not a house. That's a fortress!

I saw an clip on ABC News last night about a couple who were living small. Really small. As in one room that performed just about every function of an entire house. I think the total living space in their apartment was not over 200 square feet. When the bed was in place, there was only about 3 feet from the bed to the ceiling. The clip was in response to a segment which reported on NYC asking developers to test tiny apartments. I don't think I'd like living in 200 or even 300 square feet, but some of their ideas for making the most out of the least space were intriguing and I was wondering if I could get permission from the boss to incorporate some of those ideas in our house. It really gets cluttered around here.

The oldest part of the house, where my bedroom is, was build in the 15th century and the newest part of the house, the front, was build in the 17th century. There is another addition in between and another addition to the side so those thick inside walls were, at one point, outside walls. It has it's pros, too. I can only hear my father's snoring, faintly, in summer when the windows are open. If there wasn't a 2 foot wall between my bedroom and my parent's (which is two floors high) I probably wouldn't sleep much .

It also means that each "section" is build at a slightly different level than the ones before (which also varies per floor) so there are a lot of 1 to 4 step stairs in the house.

Happy Birthday Nyssa. Would love to get into Apple, but the prices are horrific compared to a PC, at least in the UK. My eldest daughter keeps nagging for one, but no chance.

It was fun anticipating its arrival and then configuring it. As you say, nothing like a brand new gadget. I took it to bed last night . Even did some posting on MR from there...

Thank you Orlok.

I shied away from Apple for the same reasons, as well as being a "life time" PC user. This was especially true since my husband used to build them for a living, and now writes software as well.

I bought a Macbook Pro for him last year, however, because he started writing IOS apps, and he loves it so much he's wanted me to share the experience for months now.

Thankfully, the iMac was on sale, and the sales rep actually gave him a "birthday discount" because we've now purchased our last 3 machines from him.

Oh, as for the transfer...didn't quite go as planned, so it'll be attempt number 2 tonight..... *sigh*
