I actually thought the series ended perfectly the way it did. I personally hope he DOESN'T continue the series!
Jim has stated more than once that if he goes back to Alera it'll take place a couple of hundred years later than the era of the Codex Alera series.

Hey, that's a different story altogether then!
Jim, you have my permission to continue. (AFTER you wrap up the final apocolypic trilogy finale of Dresden, that is.)
Thanks for that, Alan.

That would be nice, like Sanderson did with Alloy of Law.

Well, the Mythos Academy books are YA, so they're pretty quick reads. Plus, of course, this concluded the series, which adds another level of urgency...

Speaking of ending series, note that The Undead Pool is being billed as the penultimate "Hollows" book - indicating that, like Kelley Armstrong's "Women of the Underworld" series, the Hollows will also stop at Thirteen.

I think it is a good thing. She has extended the series twice now, and I think that when an author starts "reaching" the overall plot suffers and becomes diluted. I love a well-planned series plot. And for witches (or witches-turned-demons), it seems 13 is appropriate...

True enough. Frankly, I wish Jennifer would write some more stuff in her Bigtime (superhero romance) series, which is resting at four and a half entries (counting a short story). Maybe ending Mythos will give her that chance.

Cool What’s The Next Big Movie Franchise?

If you were a Hollywood studio exec looking for the next big franchise, what would you choose?

There's a series of articles by Matt Staggs on suvudu.com based on the above question. So far there are 8 parts to this series and more to come. Below I've posted the url's to the series thus far:

I laughed at the poll at the end of the article about who should direct the hypothetical movie.

"Oh oh, I say Peter Jackson! He could make "Dead Beat" into an epic trilogy and introduce a whole lot of new characters and subplots and love stories that do nothing but drag the story to a screeching obese stop".
(Can you tell I'm bitter about the Hobbit movies? )

Bitter?! About turning a fairy tale into an epic fantasy trilogy?! You must remember (when the bitter aftertaste appears) that it's a Hollywood movie and is profit driven (unlike the source material).

Yeah, yeah, I know.
He just did such a magical job with an incredibly difficult source material for the LotR Trilogy, that I hoped against hope that the Hobbit wouldn't turn into the Star Wars Prequels of Fantasy Movies.

Stupid profit. :P

EDIT: Although I'd LOVE to see what WETA Workshop could do with Sue!!!!!
