But in America, biscuits ALWAYS mean the sort of thing Betty baked, what you call scones. Probably the biggest difference between the two is the shape. "Usually" scones are triangular and "usually" biscuits are round. "Usually" scones are sweeter and "usually" biscuits are not... but can be. "Usually" scones are eaten as a snack with tea and "usually" biscuits are eaten as a 'bread' with meals. The really important word here is 'usually' rather than 'always.' Stitchawl |

I just bought two obi belts online. Will make display in the bedroom. Food? Biscuits??? It is midnight and I'm off to snack. Resistance is futile.
This is one of the belts. Beautiful... http://www.ichiroya.com/item/list2/205871/ |

Listening to the Italian band Nomadi. I saw them yesterday when they performed during the concert to raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Italy last month. The singer is apparently new, I like him better than the previous singer, not that he was bad I just like the current singer's voice better. Unfortunately he hasn't recorded an album with the band, hopefully soon.

I just got back from swimming with Norton. The booties I ordered for Crystal came and I put them on her, but I couldn't get her in the pool with us. The closest she came was the sliding board that I painted with non-skid to be used as a dog emergency exit. After she'd stood there a while, I picked her 85-pound dog butt up and lowered her into the water. She immediately made a beeline for the slide and ran out the pool into the gazebo where she stayed until Norton and I finished swimming.
I guess some dogs like water, and some don't. |

Sitting here at Greenbriar Toyota in Chesapeake where I took the car this morning for its Inspection. $445.00. That's what this inspection is costing me. I knew about the wipers getting kind of ragged, but I wasn't aware of the frayed belt or worn brake pads. And that price doesn't include the four new tires and new battery they said it needs. I knew the battery had some issues, but I thought the tires looked pretty good. I'll probably buy the tires from here later, but I'll get the battery smewhere else. Damn it all! I just made the last payment on this thing, and $445 is $25 more than what my payments were. Oh well, I guess I should be glad that there's nothing major wrong with the beast, but that's $445 further from retirement. Sheesh, a poor man just can't win.

My wife reminded me when I got home that the brakes and belts have needed attention for some time. They also turned the front brake rotors, so I guess I made out okay, but still $425.00 further from retirement (the final cost was a bit lower than the estimate).

Claiming money for my pil for the past two years with my health insurance. My pharmacist told me that I couldn't claim the money, but since I have extra insurance I can (if I understand the policy correctly). So I dug out all my old receipts from the past two years to scan and upload them. It's only €20-€25 a year, but if I can get that money back I want it back!

I've given thought to moving outside the U.S., but my wife won't hear of it. There are many places in the world where we could live quite comfortably, but we'd rarely or never get so see the family.
