I ain't proud. I'd even accept a paid March 13 holiday to celebrate L. Ron Hubbard's birthday.

Thailand workers have 18 legal holidays, and some of them last a few days each! We are getting ready to go out and celebrate "O-hanami," the Japanese custom of Cherry Blossom viewing while picnicking under the trees. And while we are enjoying the Japanese seasonal treats, let me wish those who follow other roads as Sweet Passover and a Happy Easter!

I have whatever day off I want and still get paid. You can't have your job getting in the way of going to the gym or cycling etc. In exchange I often have rather odd hours, but it suits me.

Now I am wondering if I should throw away the sachets of powdered miso soup i found in the pantry?? The date on the plastic bag they are in says july 2008. Does that stuff go off? I ate a jar of 4 year old vegemite once(not all at once!) and I am still alive.

Now that's just a step too far . We are given Good Friday and Easter Monday off work in the UK, so it's a nice 4-day weekend .

Miso is rotten soybeans to begin with (well, fermented actually). Can't get much worse, right? Actually, all that will happen with those is that the flavors will decrease quite a bit. I put packets of instant miso soup into our 'Earthquake Emergency Bags' as part of the food supply. That tends to sit in the closet for years before I get around to changing all the foods. We eat the old stuff, and we're not dead yet.

Speaking of that, a trivial meal is one of those packages of dried miso soup, soy sauce, water, and honey in roughly equal proportions and stirred together.. There. That took about 30 seconds to prepare. Now toss it over a fillet of fish in a hot pan. Yum.

Finishing my morning coffee and trying to get in the mood to get my taxes started and done today. I have put this off as long as possible and, now, I can't put it off any longer. I hate doing this every year and every year I promise myself I will do it sooner, yet I never do.

I wonder how many other things I can find to do today, instead of what I am suppose to be doing?

Let's see... breakfast and read MR, then shower, then clean the kitchen and bathrooms? Nope, still time left over to do taxes today.

Woke up feeling out of sorts this morning and decided I needed to go for a hike in the woods to clear my head. I went to my favorite state park and rambled for a couple of hours. The bridge across the creek in this park has been washed out for several years which cut off access to the trails on the other side. They finished the new bridge just a couple of weeks ago, and it is beautiful. I loved seeing everything from across the creek, and the weather was perfect. Very few people were out so I had it mostly to myself. My mood is greatly improved.

I did mine two days ago. I'm thinking of using the refund as a down payment on a caramel latte at Starbucks.

@ Betty - beautiful photos, thank you for sharing. I would love to be out there and not almost doing my taxes.
