Jasmine Oolong in my thermos today.
We had a very successful Halloween. Little Man was adorable as a pirate and took an hour to trick or treat around our street but was happy with his loot. We set up a fog machine in our garage, closed the door down to an inch and had some bones "escaping." Not to mention a skeleton cat and scorpion munching on an arm and a hand. It was a fun night.... "Aged" tap water.
The water here at the office has too much chlorine to be palatable (and I grew up drinking chlorinated water), so I've been buying bottled water for tea. I started looking at getting a filter pitcher to save money, but ran across this article that says that clean water pretty much has an indefinite shelf life. Since most chlorine-tasting compounds are volatile, I tried filling a gallon jug with water and covering the mouth with a paper towel to keep dust out. After about three days, the water tastes almost completely neutral. I've been drinking the aged water and bottled spring water side by side today and have a hard time telling the difference. I expect I should carefully wash my jug between uses, but I think I've found my source. |

A reasonable solution, Difflugia. As anyone who maintains a pool can tell you, chlorine dissipates quite quickly. And keeping the paper towel over it acts as a crude filter preventing anything airborne getting into it. Yes, you could spend lots of money on a solution, but as long as you have a couple of bottles to rotate through, and periodically clean the bottles thoroughly, you should be fine.
Currently drinking my faux San Pellegrino, which starts life as Reverse Osmosis (RO) water, to which approximately 1/8 t. of a salts mixture is added, and then I use a Soda Stream to carbonate it. By starting with RO water, I don't have any residual salts to adjust for, and no chlorine or organics either. The result is quite a good simulation of San Pellegrino, with the exception that it's a bit higher in carbonation usually. |

If the Cubbies win, I will have some Octomore. But it will have to wait until I get home on Friday.
