Neither would I. I don't see a trace of Rottweiler in her. I can see the Siberian Husky in her eyes, and the Welsh Springer Spaniel in her overall body type and long coat (although hers is black). That Welsh Springer Spaniel tail is curled up like an Akita's, she's huge like a Saint Bernard, and the vet sees the Labrador Retriever better than I. Still, I've always wanted a lab, so I'll take it. |

I have lost my rag and hit send on a Venting email. I should have got up and made a cup of tea first. Now I have to ignore my phone when it starts ringing, very soon.

It convinces them to go away, at least for a while. Mothballs also work but I prefer incense since it smells a lot better IMO. I don't like to use poison because in summer Lexie likes to explore the attic, I also wouldn't like a mouse to die between the ceiling and floor and start to stink.

Maybe Lexie could catch and eat it for you.

There are lots of firms who will give you a break-down of the likely origins of your ancestors from a DNA analysis. I assume some do this in a more reliable way than others, but I have no specialist knowledge in this area, so I won't give links.

We only have the door to the attic open when it's warm, otherwise the warmth of the house will disappear into the attic.
Also I think that the mice mostly stay between the ceiling and floor, we recently cleared out the attic over my bedroom and didn't find much evidence of mice. Lexie occasionally catches a mouse but that's always in the basement, she's never brought one in from upstairs. We're relatively free of mice, especially compared to other businesses (restaurants, cafés, stores) and houses in the inner city. It's mostly because of the high concentration of restaurants and bars, who put their trash outside at night in easily to tear open bin bags and they won't be picked up until the next morning. Also the council decided a couple of years ago that there isn't enough money to empty the public trash cans on a daily basis any more (it's now weekly) which results in over flowing trash cans. They did have millions to get the Giro D'Italia to our city and millions to try to get the Tour de France to visit our city though... |

Last week my friends had to put down their dog because the strange cancer (?) she had in her leg had spread to her stomach. The week before that they had to find a new home for their cat, at least for a month, because their son's health problems might be caused by the cat. Chances are the cat will stay with family members.
I always looked after their pets when they went on holiday or to the camping at weekends. I expected that was to stop now, since there aren't any pets to be looked after, but my friend texted me yesterday asking if I still want to house sit during their weekends away and during their holidays. It will be strange being in that house alone, I'm used to looking after people's pets when house sitting and having some company (even if it's just a cranky cat, LOL). I'm going to keep house sitting for them but I'm not sure how quickly I get used to not having a cat or dog around. |

Feeling miserably stuffed. I tried a new (to me) recipe and it turned out delicious. Primary discussion posts are in for school for the week, the assignments for the week don't look too daunting.
Got my exercise today, since my car battery seems to be done for, I walked to the dollar store. Maybe I shouldn't replace it, LOL, so I'll be forced to get some walking in! For the end of January, the weather has been surprisingly nice - only a couple of snow storms and it keeps thawing between (which is pretty unusual here, once we get measurable snow, normally we don't see bare ground again until spring thaw!) |
