Well, don't forget to take a dark mask, and a waterproof mp3 player with some white or pink noise on an hour's track.

Ha ha. Just underlines what I was saying about the Brits.

Congrats on (almost) 25 years! We are 6 weeks away from our 17th .

I just made reservations to go to the cinema with my sister tonight. We're not going to one of the local cinemas but to the Cinelounge. They have wide seats, each with a table and if you want something to eat or drink you can order it from your seat and it will be brought to you, they also have no annoying break halfway through the film, like most Dutch cinemas have.

I think Amazon refunded me money for my broken Kindle by mistake. Amazon had send me a new one before I send my old one back, which they received on Saturday, and this morning I got an email telling me they refunded over $100 to my account.

Although I don't mind getting the money I emailed them telling them there has been a mistake. If the refund wasn't a mistake I will have a very hard time not ordering a Kindle 4 NT and giving my new old Kindle to my sister.

I don't even try. Right now the speaker is kept face-side down whenever they're out. I'm afraid they might try to nibble on the wires and glue.

You're a good egg! Yeah, I suspect they goofed. They probably didn't mean to BOTH refund you AND send a new Kindle. Good-on-you for reporting it, rather than just keeping quiet.

It was a mistake. In their first reply they first asked me permission to charge my credit card. But since they returned the money on my gift card balance I told them to take it off the balance. In the next email I had to give explicit permission to deduct it from my gift card balance. Great service from Amazon , I've had companies taking money from my bank account because someone "accidentally" gave them the wrong bank account number when getting a new tv or telephone subscription.

I grew up in our store and I appreciate it when customers are honest to me. I just wouldn't be comfortable with taken money that isn't mine, even if Amazon can won't miss $100.

Alcohol only keeps me asleep for a short while (unless you wipe yourself out really badly), then I wake up a few hours later unable to get back to sleep.

doxylamine succinate (not a narcotic) will help to keep you asleep, and I tend to wake up a hour to two later than normal.

Hope the storm was not too bad.

Crystal's DNA Test

I just got the DNA results back on the dog I adopted, Crystal. Here's a picture of her which you may have seen already. I really need to take some more, as it's the only halfway decent picture I have. (Click on any of these photos to enlarge.)

The vet said she thought it was a Lab - Border Collie mix. I've never thought so, but here's another picture I discovered on the 'net that was labeled such, and I have to say I can see some resemblance.

My main problem with the vet's opinion is that I don't see the lab in that mix. Here's a picture of a black lab:

I always thought that, except for the ears, she looked most like a Belgium Sheepdog:

And here's the official verdict of the folks at the Wisdom Panel Insight DNA labs: She's a Siberian Husky/Rottweiler Mix crossed with mixed breed (The mix: Catahoula Leopard Dog [20.10%], Welsh Springer Spaniel [18.17%], Akita [14.32%], Saint Bernard [4.13%], Labrador Retriever [1.72%]

Personally, I don't see it. I can see the Welsh Springer Spaniel, and she may get her enormous size from the Saint Bernard genes, but to me she looks nothing like either a Siberian Husky or a Rottweiler.
