Good. This is tax evasion, which is a criminal offence. Any seller who misdeclares the value of goods is also laying themselves open to criminal prosecution.

Yes, absolutely no problem at all. That's with the old offer, but I'm sure the new one works in the same way. In order to get the free books, all you have to do is register your Reader - you don't need to enter credit card details. Simply check the "I live in the USA" box when it asks you.

![]() Seriously, I think I've discovered an interesting effect with the software outside of the US. I live in Canada, purchased the PRS-500 when in Las Vegas a few weeks back as a gift for my wife. Except for the problem of my VISA card not having a US billing address, I was able to logon, create an account and was looking forward to getting my free 100 books while I waited until I was back in the USSR errr, USA to get a gift certificate at Borders etc. Well, my ver 1.1 Connect software was asking to update to V 2.0 so.... I did and low and behold, I could no longer access my account. It complained that I didn't have an internet connect (although I clearly did). By this time, I had a friend install Connect on his computer in Boston and send a gift certificate my way. Fortunately, by uninstalling the v2.0 and reinstalling the v 1.1, I'm back in business and can assure all who are interested that you can insert the Gift Certificate codes into the system and purchase against that credit. Furthermore, since I've authorized my reader within the alloted timeframe, I get the 100 free classics too. If anyone can confirm that the Version 2.x software checks domains to ensure that the computer is in the US, I'd appreciate it. I just don't have the desire to upgrade, now that I've fully authorized my system. With my luck, I'd screw it up and would prefer to be a US resident to try and sort that out on the telephone rather than try to socially engineer my way back to life with a screwed up authorization on the software and hardware! ![]() Great piece of equipment though. Wish I'd known about the 505 though. I might have grabbed it instead of the 500 from Costco like I did. Too bad it's not available in Canada yet. Between this and my Zune, I have two neat pieces of hardware that few in Canada have! Happy reading guys. Doug |

Has anyone ordered from the Datavision store as they do seem to have both models in stock.

If so what was your experience like and how long did it take for delivery? Thanks, Richard. |

They didn't bother to reply to my email querying them about it so they probably don't ship overseas.

Thanks for the info though ![]() I am tempted to buy one from EBay but with shipping it would be over $400 which seems like a huge premium to pay compared to a proper store. Thanks, Richard. |

Yeah ebay doesn't sound like a reliable source.

If I were you, I would wait for a month or so, maybe bhphotovideo is going sell them. Though who knows, maybe they encountered too many problems with prs 500 and will not want to bother this time. |

I have an offer in the flea market section of the forum to allow you to purchase a 505 for less then the cost you'd pay going via ebay. Do you really want to get one for less then ebay? Then head over to the flea market.

Hi JSWolf, thanks for the offer, but I would rather purchase direct from a store if possible.

I have sent an email to Adorama asking when they expect the reader to be in stock. If it's not soon then maybe the Cybook will actually launch on time!

gingercat - i think nz's pretty understanding on bringing things back home. i've bought stuff worth about 1200 and they haven't bothered getting any money off me. i think they only charge gst on the difference between 700 and the value of the goods. if that's not more than 50 bucks they don't worry....... maybe not the rules but certainly in my experience
